Part of this trip was experiencing the culture of KC! My favorite meals: Kansas City BBQ from Char Bar, chicken and waffles from Chicken N Pickle, pork spring rolls from the FIFA Fan Fest, and ice cream at the KC Royals game! Food can enhance sporting events!
I am currently volunteering at the Kansas City FIFA Fan Festival! One week down, one more to go for us! This experience reveals that every role in the sport industry is important, no matter how small. It has also taught me about the details that go into mega events!
Thank you to Sophia Skoubis and the Illinois State Women's Soccer team for your generous donation to the Justin Wegner Ronald McDonald House Gift Card Drive.

We’ve had a productive few days working on the future of this program. Very exciting times ahead as we roll into 2024. Honored to have earned this role a year ago. Grateful for my incredible staff and players for aiding my growth this past year. Ready for more 🤜🏽 #LookingForward
HUGE congrats to my uncle Conte for his induction into the IBCA Hall of Fame!! He is a prime example of what it means to “do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life”. His dedication to his career and the development of his players and team is inspirational!
Congrats to our varsity head coach, Conte Stamas, on his induction into the IBCA Hall of Fame as part of the 2024 class! A well deserved honor for a long and successful career with more to come! #WeAreBR@BrotherRice@Rice_Pride
I understand this time of year you are asked by many to give to various organizations. This one is close and dear to my heart, so I am proud to announce it is time, once again, for the Justin Wegner Gift Card Drive for the Ronald McDonald House. If you are able to give a little on the holidays, I am collecting any type of gift cards for the Ronald McDonald House between now and February 1st. When we lost Justin to cancer, it was important we kept his memory alive. This year, cheerleading, football, baseball, and NCHS Literary Magazine continue by helping get the word out through social media.
Many families use these cards while their child is getting treatment at a local children’s hospital. This idea was from former Redhawk Justin Wenger whose family stayed at the Ronald McDonald House while Justin went through cancer treatments. This was Justin’s idea to give back to them since they were so kind to his parents. While parents stay at the RMH they have access to gift cards from local restaurants (to avoid hospital food), coffee shops (as a break from the hospital), and big box stores and local businesses (to buy supplies and things they may need as they are far from home).
Any gift card, new or used, is accepted. No amount is too small. Those cards you have not used and are shoved in a drawer, we will take them. You may turn in all cards between now and February 1st to door #1, in the LRC, in my mailbox, mail them to me, or in my room (203) during the school day. Last year, we collected over $6,000 in cards and over $54,000 in seven years! In February, the Wegner Family presents all the cards to the head of the Ronald McDonald House. This is an emotional moment for all involved. Please help continue this NCHS tradition.
If you could pass this on through any social media to collect from your friends that would be helpful and appreciated. Let’s blow this up!
Thank you for helping during this season of giving. Please contact me if you have any questions.
