I believe in science, facts, the Constitution, and the rule of law. Occasionally, I retweet things bc they’re absurd.

Wait, after all these racist attacks on Abdul, it's Mike Rogers who has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood!? That's wild, man.

@katie_heid It’s just a joke about a restaurant chain known for a specific decor and a cultural reference to an authoritarian despot—how on earth is this garbage? Cheesecake Factory is thrilled about the publicity & people have made fun of Sadaam’s palaces forever

@atrupar “Somewhere, Trump is watching Obama speak in Ohio, wondering how someone can command a crowd without mentioning himself every 12 seconds.” 😂

[Barb McQuade @BarbMcQuade]

This US attorney is way outside his lane. The Constitution gives states the power to control elections. If he has evidence that a state is violating federal law, he can challenge it in court. Ethics laws forbid this kind of extra-judicial smear about a party in pending litigation.

[s smith @SSmithh2020]

@BarbMcQuade Geez. This guy is such a continuous embarrassment.

@Oooooooopig @lesleyabravanel You guys are exactly what this country needs. Keep up the good work.

After weeks of rioting in Paris no one was killed.
Which technically means your child is safer attending a riot in Paris than a school in America.

[Aaron Rupar @atrupar]

BASH: The worry is that we end up in a situation where President Trump tries to overturn the election and the result of that could be like what we saw after January 6--

BLANCHE: Stop it! You gotta stop it with that! That's crazy

BASH: This is a president who has a history

In 2013 Jason Eck was changing the oil on lawnmowers and golf carts.

He was a Division I offensive line coach. Western Illinois had fired the head coach, and rather than pay out what it owed the assistants, the school kept them on payroll and sent them to work other jobs on campus.

Eck got the golf course. Then they moved him to a cubicle at the public transit center in Macomb, Illinois.

Here is how he describes it.

"I got transferred to the guy who ran the bookstore and the campus bus system."

Saturday night his New Mexico team is 5 and 1 with the best scoring defense in the country.

He has five kids. Here is what he says about those years.

"We've been in bad debt, bad financial shape. I've got five kids so it was nuts."

The man who ran that bookstore and bus system, Jude Kiah, is the one who talked him out of quitting. Kiah asked him whether he really wanted to walk away from everything he had put in. Eck started hunting jobs instead.

By that July he was the offensive coordinator at Minnesota State.

He walked on at Wisconsin as an offensive lineman. He thought about law school and never took the test. After the Rose Bowl he asked to coach instead.

His own dad coached college basketball. Toledo fired Jay Eck in 1991, less than a week after a one point loss with an NCAA tournament bid on it.

Jason took job after job after that. His wife Kimberly found out he had lost the Ball State job while she was going into labor with their third son.

Then South Dakota State, where John Stiegelmeier told him he would make a really good head coach. Idaho hired him in December of 2021 and he went 26 and 13 there. New Mexico hired him two years ago.

Last season the Lobos won nine games, beat UCLA, made their first bowl since 2016 and sold out a home game for the first time since 2007. He was Mountain West coach of the year.

And one of his linebackers is his son.

Jaxton Eck came out of Brookings, South Dakota with offers from Sioux Falls and Northern State. Division II. He played for his dad at Idaho, and when his dad took the New Mexico job he had North Carolina State, Michigan State and Stanford asking for him.

He went to New Mexico. Last season he had 115 tackles and shared Mountain West defensive player of the year.

Father and son won conference awards in the same season.

Now the part that complicates it. One good year is not a program. New Mexico has been bad for most of the last fifty years, and the hard truth about coaches who win there is that somebody bigger calls.

But here is what Jason Eck says now.

He does not know whether he would ever have become a head coach if his son had not played football.

Thirteen years ago he was changing oil on a lawnmower.

What were you doing right before the job that changed everything for you?

[Sarrah Bellus @sarrah_bellus]

I saw no women being assaulted. I saw no nose picking. I saw no ear wax eating. I heard no stories about men’s asses. I heard no strange burping noises, no slurring, no moaning.

And I heard no songs about homosexual hook ups at the local gym while an old fat man wearing makeup danced like he was wanking 2 giraffes.

I didn’t see or hear any of that during Barack Obama’s speeches today.

Just an adult speaking in complete sentences to an audience who appreciated every word.

It was nice.

@RickPetree A gift.

[s smith @SSmithh2020]

@atrupar Lol. Here we go again

@RhonnieF It would be funny were it not so profoundly sad. Such a bizarre phenomenon.

@TheAmishDude Millions of people watched the fall of Baghdad on TV in 2003. Images of the palaces were headlines in every newspaper. It’s not something you forget.

[Ira Gorawara @IraGorawara]

Take a moment to digest. Lincoln Riley has NEVER put up just 7 points in a game as a head coach.

Luke Fickell's Wisconsin thoroughly dismantled Lincoln Riley's USC. What a massive, awful, shocking loss.

[s smith @SSmithh2020]

@ZaidJilani They’re desperate

[The Viscount ⚓️🇺🇲 @Viscountpost]

The entire right wing media apparatus taking up pistols at 40 paces to defend the honor of the Cheesecake Factory is exactly how I want to close out the election cycle. Thank you all for this.

@happiestporch The French are saying this as well.
