One of the most energetic ensemble scenes from the ballet Zorba the Greek features male dancers in traditional costumes performing the sirtaki with synchronized, precise, and spirited movements on stage.
Inspired by the 1964 film Zorba the Greek, based on the novel by Nikos Kazantzakis and featuring music by Mikis Theodorakis, the dance has become an artistic expression closely associated with the joyful, free-spirited, and life-affirming character of Greek culture.
You really couldn't make up any of the antics which Charles Spencer and his nephew Harry get up to.
Spencer, whose sister Diana said was "a little shit", has spent the last three decades trying to twist the facts to suit his own bilious predilections while posing as something he is not - a reasonable and even handed observer of the human condition.
Now he's had to eat humble pie, apologising to Piers Morgan for having blamed him for things he didn't do - something of a Charles "the little shit" Spencer specialty.
I'm wading through his book (the viewers of my channel want me to save them the trouble, something I am happy to do whenever possible, but in fairness, I would've read it no matter what, as it is by her brother and all authors should read the works of those connected to their subjects, no matter the merits of the toil). The book provides a telling insight into a curiously disturbed and disturbing individual. He's obviously bright, but my goodness, is he a mythologist. And consistency clearly isn't his strong point, for while he condemns his brother-in-law for having committed adultery, he holds himself and his sister Diana - two serial adulterers - as being perfectly justified in indulging in infidelity.
He also makes some howling errors, but how slapdash of him to do so with Piers Morgan.
May those who have passed be free from fear in the bardo.
May their karma be purified and may they find rebirth in a pure realm or precious human life.
