๐๐๐ This incredibly sweet female dog, weighing around 40 lbs, along with her younger son of similar weight who resembles her, have been found abandoned and are in search of a hero. They are boxer mixes. They both have a beautiful brindle coat with a white blaze and a friendly demeanor, but they urgently need a safe environment to heal.
Current Status: They require a foster home to address noticeable skin irritation and hair loss while providing a consistent diet. They eat well and exhibit a gentle temperament. Please share this message or contact me directly if you can foster, tag a rescue, or assist in finding them a home!
They get along well with other dogs and can be separated if needed. The female is approximately 4 years old, while the male is under a year. Both will be fully vetted first and are not contagious with any diseases. They have endured a terrible past and were on the brink of starvation.
For inquiries, please call or text 214 677 6445.
This story is both heartbreaking and uplifting. Four stray dogs appeared on Hewit Drive, emaciated and resembling skeletons. One of them had been seen two years ago with a female dog we believed to be his mother; he adored her and always let her eat first. I trapped them in a neighbor's yard, by luring them with hot dogs. CCACS was scheduled to pick them up the next morning with a larger team since the yard was spacious and they couldnโt catch that night. However, they managed to scale the wall and escape before anyone arrived. They vanished, and one returned a year later without the female, mom, looking quite depressed. He disappeared again, only to be spotted on the freeway near Baldwin and Crosstown. His new companion was caught, but he remained elusive. I used a computer tracker to locate his first sighting at a cemetery about six years prior, where he was young and with his mother. Both looking healthy.
Another year passed, and just a month ago, he returned with three friends. They were all skeletons. I tried to earn their trust and succeeded in catching the first one within 3 weeks. I continuously remained in contacted CCACS, and they sent officers to assist each time I requested it. The area was vast, making it challenging to catch them, and traps were ineffective as they were clever animals. Tonight, however, everything changed. I gradually lured them onto my porch, making it the only place they felt safe to eat, inching closer each day until they followed willingly. My neighbor and friend, Will Cocke, rigged a tie to pull my front gate as a drop trap, and we successfully caught them. Throughout this month, CCACS and the police department were called several times and always responded quickly. It was a collaborative effort, showcasing the strength of our community when we unite with the city and authorities for a common cause.
These poor dogs, who were once skeletal, are finally safe. One has a broken leg, likely from being hit by a car. They will receive thorough veterinary care and will be adopted once they are assessed for friendliness. They seem to be adjusting well after being caught. Having been abandoned and overlooked their entire lives, they now have the chance for a better future. If anyone is able to foster them, please reach out. Iโve been informed they shouldnโt be around cats, but theyโve been around many of mine without incident; the first one I caught is currently with cats and small dogs and hasn't shown any aggression. They are scheduled to be spayed and neutered next week. You can contact me at 214-677-6445. Itโs finally their opportunity for a second chance. Their lives have changed for the better tonightโno more hunger, dodging cars, or hostile people. They deserve love and care. Letโs make this happen together. Thank you, CCACS, Kathleen Chapa, Cynthia Martinez, Captain Sepulveda and Will Cocke for helping save these abandoned animals. It wasnโt easy, but they never gave up hope. This song was actually written about them a week after I tried to catch them for hours.
