Thailand is taking further steps to bring its Girls’ Love (GL) and Boys’ Love (BL) productions to international audiences, with the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) looking to strengthen cooperation with the Thai content industry. According to a report by MGR Online, discussions have focused on expanding overseas distribution, facilitating business partnerships, promoting content exports, and creating new commercial opportunities for Thai producers and creators.

The industry is already generating significant business activity. In 2026, 11 projects supported by the department involved 201 entrepreneurs and recorded a combined value of THB 6,431.89 million in trade negotiations. These initiatives covered international market events, business matchmaking, and opportunities to connect Thai companies with overseas partners.

Looking ahead, Thailand plans to continue promoting its creative industries in 2027, with activities spanning Asia, North America, and Europe. Fan meetings, merchandise, tourism, and the international licensing of productions are also expected to play a role in expanding the economic impact of Thai entertainment.

The report also highlights continued demand for GL and BL content in markets such as Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, alongside opportunities for further expansion into Europe, Latin America, and Australia.

This marks an important development for the Thai GL industry. As international expansion becomes a more prominent part of Thailand’s creative economy, GL has the potential to reach new audiences, build stronger cross-border partnerships, and create opportunities beyond the screen.

The next chapter of Thai GL may be shaped not only by the stories being told, but also by how far those stories can travel.
