Dr Doyle, STAT-MD medical director, will be presenting at the Aviation Heath Conference next week. The topic will be anti epileptic medications. Looking forward to it!
@PragueorBrno @beckisaid @Sharigirltn @mmsBA It’s possible but in reality doesn’t work. The volunteer doesn’t know how to use the headset. It delays things. The volunteer also has to stop helping the pax to get on the headset. Ideally the flight attendant should relay the info on the headset.
@PragueorBrno @beckisaid @Sharigirltn @mmsBA Sure if someone knows their license # we could look it up. It just delays things. Credential verification is not our priority. Care of the pax is our priority.
@PragueorBrno @beckisaid @Sharigirltn @mmsBA Another issue is that in the US many state medical boards are no longer issuing physical licenses- everything is online. It’s hard to produce a credential you don’t have. Some airlines will accept a business card.
@PragueorBrno @beckisaid @Sharigirltn @mmsBA The biggest thing to know is that most likely the flight is talking to someone on the ground who is contracted by the airline to “be in charge” . So the volunteer can provide assistance without worrying about consequences or liability.
