A group of students recently entered the Torbay Festival of Drama and Music, where they won their Musical Theatre class with honours! A brilliant result and a real reflection of the time, effort and teamwork they put into their performance.

As part of work experience week, 10 of our students had the fantastic opportunity to take part in the Work Experience Guarantee Programme run by the Devon, Plymouth and Torbay Careers Hub.

Remember to look after your mental health and wellbeing during exam time, but your wellbeing always comes first.

Talk to someone if you are feeling overwhelmed, don’t study too late at night, take breaks without feeling guilty, you’ve earned them.

Every school day builds success

Did you know that learning happens step by step, with each school day helping to build children’s knowledge, confidence and independence. Regular attendance helps children strengthen friendships, develop resilience and stay connected.

As part of a recent school trip to Spain, students visited Colegio Santísimo Cristo de la Sangre to meet the students they’ve been writing to and video calling since September. Our students got to experience a typical Spanish school day and had a tour around their Torrijos!

Oliver, one of our Sixth Form students, has just returned from a pilgrimage to Lourdes with HCPT. Each Easter, around 1,000 children and young people take part in this life-changing experience in the south of France, supported by a dedicated team of volunteers like Oliver.

If you’re looking for new ways to revise, active revision can really help bring topics to life and make your learning more effective. If you find it hard reading revision notes, try to interact with the material and challenge your understanding.

Being in school every day supports not only learning, but also friendships, wellbeing and a sense of belonging. Regular attendance helps children build strong connections with their peers and teachers, creating supportive relationships that encourage confidence and resilience.

We are really pleased to share that a group of our students entered the National Youth Monologues, and all received Commended Awards! This is a huge achievement, as more than 4000 young actors from across the UK entered the competition. @nationalyouthmonologues

Attendance Matters. Just 10 days of absence in Year 11 can reduce the chances of achieving a Grade 5 by around 50%. Every day in school counts. Not just for academic success, but for your child’s confidence, wellbeing and future opportunities.

Four of our students applied to the Battisborough Trust for funding towards equipment and training to develop their hobbies, and were successful! To get the funding, the students had to write an application explaining how the funds would support and develop their skills.

Pope Leo XIV held his first meeting with Dame Sarah Mullally, the new Archbishop of Canterbury and the first woman to lead the Church of England and the Anglican Communion. During their audience at the Vatican, the Pope encouraged Catholics and Anglicans to continue the path of dialogue and unity, acknowledging that new challenges have made full communion more difficult. He warned that it would be a “scandal” not only to fail in the common mission of making Christ known, but also to stop working to overcome divisions, “no matter how intractable they may appear.”
