What does a future in engineering actually look like?
That is what our Connections Program is built for. We team up with industry leaders to bring real-world engineering into the classroom, so students can picture themselves in careers they might never have considered.
This time that leader is Komatsu, a global force in construction and mining equipment. With automation, technology,, and robotics, they are changing what heavy machinery can do, and showing students where mechanical and electrical engineering can lead.

STEM 101's Connections Program links students to the industries shaping their future.
Through Connections, we partner with companies and organizations that bring real-world context into every kit and course. Students see where these skills lead, from the trades to healthcare to engineering, long before they have to choose a path.
Curious which partners power the program? Explore Connections here: https://t.co/ZnGZuS4Hj9

Through our Connections Program, STEM 101 partners with Harley-Davidson to bring real-world engineering into the classroom.
Harley-Davidson is a name built on craftsmanship and bold design, backed by the electrical and engineering work that brings an icon to life. This partnership connects that legacy to the classroom, giving students a real look at the skills behind the machines they already know.
It's how the Connections Program works: linking what students learn to the industries shaping the world around them.

There's a lot more to engineering than hard hats and blueprints.
The water slides kids beg to go on, the explosions in the movies they love, the rockets they watch launch, the race cars, even the toys all over the floor. Engineers made all of it.
We put together a few of our favorites to show kids how much of their world started with someone who just liked figuring out how things work.
If that sounds like your kid, STEM 101 kits are a good place to start. https://t.co/oHdN471tWu

A company that started with 35 people in 1970 now employs more than 35,000 around the world. That kind of growth comes from one thing: people who know how to build.
Ashley Furniture has spent decades mastering manufacturing, engineering, and design at a massive scale. Through our Connections Program, they're passing that know-how forward, partnering with STEM 101 to bring real-world skills into the classroom and invest in the builders who come next.
It's a full-circle kind of partnership: a company built on craftsmanship helping shape the people who will carry it on.
We're grateful to have Ashley Furniture in our corner. Celebrate the engineers and makers shaping our world: https://t.co/MaqtVkTXWh

Students at Melrose-Mindoro School District are putting electrical engineering into practice.
With the Learn How to Wire Electrical Circuits kit, they're working hands-on with the real principles behind electricity.
These are the same skills that power real engineering, and there's real pride in watching a student light up their first circuit!

Every building you walk into stays safe, comfortable, and running because someone engineered it that way. That is Johnson Controls.
Through our Connections Program, STEM 101 partners with Johnson Controls to bring that work into the classroom. With over 130 years of innovation in fire safety, security, and smart building systems, they're the engineering force behind the spaces where people live, work, and learn.
This partnership links that expertise to a real STEM 101 project, where the focus turns to designing climate-controlled spaces and the engineering, HVAC, and sustainable design thinking behind them.

Meet Alissa Hermann, the force behind academic partnerships and industry collaboration at STEM 101.
Alissa's work is all about closing the gap between what students learn in the classroom and how it shows up in the real world. She helps schools bring hands-on, future-focused STEM into everyday learning, and connects educators with the industry leaders shaping tomorrow's careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Through these partnerships, she's making sure students don't just learn concepts, but get to apply them in ways that mirror the world they'll one day lead.
We're grateful to have her on the team. ❤️

Students at Edna Brewer Middle School are exploring how technology responds to the world around it.
Using the Create Ideas with a Digital Gamepad kit, they're building their own controllers and learning the principles that make them work:
✅ How switches open and close a circuit
✅ How different materials conduct electricity
✅ How a physical input can produce a digital response on screen.
Each design gives them room to experiment, test, and refine until it works.
These are foundational skills in electronics and engineering, applied through hands-on problem-solving.

Behind every engineer, technician, and innovator is an early spark, often a moment when a student built something with their own hands and realized they could.
Organizations that invest in STEM education help create those moments at scale. By partnering with STEM 101, your company can put hands-on project kits into classrooms across your community, giving students real experience with the kind of work that shapes future careers.

What does a future in engineering actually look like?
At STEM 101, we think students learn it best by seeing it up close.
That's the idea behind our Connections Program. We partner with industry leaders to bring real-world engineering into the classroom, so students can picture themselves in careers they might never have considered.
This time, that leader is Komatsu, a global force in construction and mining equipment. Through automation, AI, and robotics, they're reshaping what heavy machinery can do, and giving students a real glimpse of where mechanical and electrical engineering can take them.

Summer does not have to mean kids zoning out in front of a screen. A hands-on project gives them something real to do, and they pick up skills that stick along the way.
These STEM 101 kits turn free afternoons into time spent building, problem-solving, and figuring things out on their own. Your child gets to work with their hands, follow a project from start to finish, and feel proud of something they made themselves.
Pick the project that fits your child and let them dive this summer!

Learning about sound is one thing. Building an instrument that creates it is another.
Students at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School explored the physics of vibration and resonance, learned how sound travels, and discovered how engineering plays a role in instrument design and manufacturing.
The unique designs were a fun reflection of each student's creativity but the real achievement was the STEM knowledge they built along the way.
And yes, they got to bring their finished ukuleles home!
