Providing pads is one of the key ways we support girls’ menstrual health. Beyond pads, girls need access to clean water, safe and private spaces to change, proper disposal facilities, and accurate information. These create confidence and uninterrupted learning for every girl.
As we commemorate Menstrual Health Day, we must recognize that menstrual products are a basic need, not a luxury. Taxes on sanitary pads increase period poverty, affecting girls’ dignity and school attendance. Removing these taxes is a step toward equity.

Every child deserves a strong start
As children return to school, let’s all play our part, supporting them so they can stay focused, disciplined, and ready to shape their dreams and a brighter future. @STFUganda wishes every learner a successful second term.
#BackToSchool
Menstrual health, an important SRHR issue, requires support that goes beyond pad distribution. Through games, open conversations, and interactive learning, young people can access accurate information and address stigma and misconceptions around menstruation.

Mental Health Matters Too.
You do not have to carry every burden alone. Speaking up and seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. Let’s create safe spaces where young people feel heard, supported, and valued.

1 in 5 girls miss school during menstruation due to lack of sanitary pads, limited access to clean water and sanitation facilities, and stigma. Equipping young people with skills to make reusable pads can help girls stay in school and reduce period poverty.

As we mark Mental Health Awareness Month, let us reflect and remind ourselves of the basics of mental health. Let us also remember to check in on ourselves and others. Taking care of our minds is not a luxury but a necessity.

Changing attitudes and challenging harmful cultural norms starts with open conversations and positive mindsets. Happening now at Kacheri Town Council, Kotido District, the CDO is engaging adolescents and young people in a dialogue on harmful beliefs and practices affecting ASRHR.
Happy New Week!

STF is conducting holiday camps for adolescents at Lokopo Health Centre and Lorengechora S/C, supported by health workers, providing health talks and guidance during the school break. This complements the role of parents at home in engaging their children in SRH conversations.
Weekend Note: The holidays are more than just a break from school. They are an opportunity for parents and guardians to have open, honest conversations with young people about values, health, and life choices. Make time to talk with your children to create a safer future.
As we mark Menstrual Health and Hygiene Month this May, we reaffirm the importance of ensuring that young people have access to accurate SRHR and menstrual health information, free from stigma, shame, and discrimination. This is key to enabling them to reach their full potential.
📢 SAVE THE DATE!
Join us for the Pre–Menstrual Hygiene Day Webinar 2026 as we bring together government, civil society, donors, grassroots actors, and young people to explore how we can move beyond access through accountability, better data, and amplified community voices in menstrual health.
Together, let’s build a #PeriodFriendlyWorld where women and girls live life unlimited by their periods.
