Deeply saddened by the tragic death of two Ukrainian demining specialists of Norwegian People’s Aid @NPAdisarm, aged just 24 and 25, who were killed in a Russian attack in Kherson region while carrying out humanitarian mine clearance operations. Four of their colleagues were also injured.
These young men were not combatants. They were saving lives. Day after day, they worked to remove the deadly legacy of Russia’s aggression from Ukrainian soil, making it possible for civilians to return home, children to play safely, and communities to rebuild.
The bitter irony is impossible to ignore: those risking their lives to clear mines and protect civilians became victims of the very aggression that made their work necessary in the first place.
My heartfelt condolences to their families, friends, colleagues, and the entire Norwegian People’s Aid team.
This crime must not be allowed to fade into statistics. Russia must be held accountable not only for launching its war of aggression against Ukraine, but also for the countless lives destroyed by its deliberate and indiscriminate attacks. Accountability is not a matter of politics. It is a matter of justice.

The requirement is political as much as technical.
No U.S. components. No dependence on U.S. cartographic data. No American guidance systems.
The UK wants sovereign control over what it gives Ukraine and how Ukraine can use it. 3/
"Zelenskyy had clashed with Scott Bessent, Trump’s Treasury secretary, over the details of a proposal that demanded 50 per cent of the rights to the country’s rare earth and critical minerals to recoup $500bn — a price tag for past military assistance that Trump appears to have pulled from thin air. Senior Ukrainian officials told the Financial Times that Bessent had also demanded Zelenskyy sign the deal right then and there."
"But the Ukrainian president refused, afterwards telling reporters as he stood beside a visibly flustered Bessent, his hands trembling, that Kyiv would take the deal to Munich days later, where it would be discussed with vice-president JD Vance and other US officials."

This is likely to be how it will be from now on, due to Trump's unreliability: US manufacturers being cut out of allied weapons manufacturing wherever possible.
I never understood the Western fascination with Russia. I was a Soviet citizen and lived under that system. I’ve also lived in America and Europe. Compared with the West, Russia is a shithole in every practical, moral and political sense. What exactly are you admiring?
Zelenskyy: When did I last cry? I'll try after this interview. There are a lot of different moments — losses on the battlefield, civilians, insane attacks.
The hardest: when I give orders to mothers and fathers who lost their children.
Kaja Kallas:
❗️"We have also now verified reports that the Chinese military has been training Russian military personnel to fight in Ukraine. We are carefully assessing the implications."
Ex-US ambassador to Ukraine, Taylor: Putin likely expected Trump to pressure Zelenskyy into accepting Moscow’s view. That has not happened.
Zelenskyy is more confident because he knows, war ends only when enough pressure is put on Putin, not when Ukraine is pushed to concede. 1/
Four minutes after one Russian missile hit near her home in Kyiv, Veronika Chuyan saw the building opposite in flames and knew another was coming.
She grabbed her sons, Jacob and Jasim, and ran. When the second missile struck, she covered them with her body. 1/
After a call with Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy, Trump had a one-hour call with his boss, the terrorist leader Putin.
The russians exercise complete reflexive control over their Useful Idiot Trump. They whisper lies in Trump’s ear *after* anyone else to keep him obedient.
Our data analysis suggests Ukraine’s strikes have been more extensive, and more damaging to Russia’s economy and military production, than commonly assumed https://t.co/lnvLYxIY3j
In the early hours of this day 85 years ago, thousands of families across Estonia were woken by a knock on the door, only to be torn from their homes and deported to Siberia by the Soviet regime.
During the June 1941 deportations, around 10,000 Estonians, together with tens of thousands of Latvians and Lithuanians, fell victim to Soviet terror.
As we honour the victims of these crimes, we must also remember that Russia is using many of the same methods in Ukraine today — deporting children, terrorising civilians, and attempting to erase Ukrainian identity.
History teaches us that crimes left unpunished lead to further aggression. It is time to hold Russia accountable.
Moore: Ukraine hid drones in trucks, drove them deep into Russia. At the signal, tops opened remotely, drones launched from Kyiv.
New technology, old spirit — same as the Norwegians who destroyed the German heavy water plant in 1943.
