We have signed RHP Lance Lynn and RHP Kyle Gibson to one-year contracts for the 2024 season. Both deals include a 2025 club option.
Lynn has been selected to two All-Star teams and was a member of our 2011 World Series championship team.
Gibson, who pitched at Mizzou, ranked in the top 10 in the AL in wins, game started, innings pitched, quality starts, and winning percentage in 2023.
Phillies are still looking at top starters after bringing back Aaron Nola. They have company, as at least the Red Sox, Cardinals, Braves, Dodgers and Astros are looking for an elite starter (and many more than just those teams are on Yamamoto, who’s only 25).
Lance Lynn agrees to Cardinals deal, 1 year plus option. Guarantees $10M in 2024, plus $1M buyout on option. Can be worth about $26M over 2 with escalators. Pluses: Started with Cards, lives nearby in southern Illinois. Pending physical tomorrow.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto has been posted and MLB clubs have been notified. The window begins at 8 a.m. Eastern Time on November 21. The signing Club must submit terms no later than 5 p.m. Eastern Time on January 4, 2024.
Right-hander Lance Lynn and the St. Louis Cardinals are in agreement on a one-year contract with a club option that guarantees around $10 million, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN. Lynn, 36, was drafted by Cardinals and returns, pending physical, as they rebuild rotation.
St Louis, I am so thankful for all the years we spent together! This one’s for you. Thank you to our friends at @PlayersTribune for organizing this. Love y’all!

For the second time in three games, every hitter in the #STLCards lineup has recorded at least one hit.
And the majority of them have not been cheap. 10 of STL's 15 hits have registered exit velos of over 100 MPH.
That Goldschmidt hit in the bottom of the 8th here was the #STLCards 14th batted ball of 100mph or more. That ties the most ever in a Cards game since they started tracking it in 2008.
Contreras compares the #STLCards and Cubs organizations: "For me, I like this better. It's a better organization. Old school way, which I love it. ... Ever since I got here it's been everything just one way. The Cardinal way."
