I’m enjoying some cobbee this morning, so here’s some sunday ramblings on fully on-chain CC0 pixel art 🫡

CC0 means anyone can build with these assets…

it means a network effect FAR beyond just a founder going hard sharing their respective vision and project

the beauty of it is that these characters aren’t just universal to CC0mon…

they can become whatever you want.

they aren’t just one style, there’s 260 different species to leverage and build with!

and now with Claude and GPT 5.4, the possibilities are becoming endless

video games, trading card games, ROMs for gameboy (i’ve got some wicked ideas here!), on-chain games 👀, anything can be built with these assets, and you don’t need anyone’s permission to do so

that feels revolutionary 🔥

it makes me rly excited about nfts again, and leveraging the chain to express, and educating more ppl on the abilities of the ethereum virtual machine in that process

so many epic folks in the community are leading their own charge to build what they wanna see, and that’s so damn exciting, and honestly feels very rare to witness.

it’s a true love around the art and the characters as a foundation for what it represents.

the community is not just looking to a centralized team and hoping they execute, they’re executing on ideas themselves because it’s FUN and exciting and CC0 allows for it permissionlessly

this is a new era for IP

a community that comes together and builds what they wanna see

since we launched the API 2 days ago, new tools are popping up daily 😤

in just 2 days:

it’s incredible to see folks building and resonating with the art for the love of the pixels

and having these assets fully on-chain means it’s forever hosted in Ethereum, the blockchain is the server holding the data, forever

the pixels and art truly are forever

we launched this project for <$20 in gas fees at .05gwei, fully on-chain…

read that again… isn’t that insane?

this would’ve cost 1000X more if not 100,000X more not too long ago

there’s never been a more incredible time for creatives to build on-chain, to launch something awesome

Seventeen students in the room.

Every single one had heard the acronym NFT...

Yet no one yet had collected digital art before.

Although, one student did comment they "Right click saved" some work xD

At the beginning of our talk, no one raised their hand when asked what “provenance” meant.

But they knew about NFTs - that contrast says a lot about our space and how it's portrayed by the world.

We all know that the language of speculation travels much faster than the language of historical preservation, on-chain permanence, and provenance.

Education helps rebalance that, painting another narrative - one based around the opportunity that comes along with trustless, verified ownership online.

I’m proud of THE DAM for bringing this material into classrooms and introducing the next generation to the significance of the deeper infrastructure beneath the "NFT" headlines.

A huge thanks to @AaronBlaisdell for welcoming me in to guest lecture to his students, as well as to the legendary @Nightshare for sponsoring THE DAM’s vision to educate and equip the next wave of builders, artists, and creators pursuing careers in blockchain.

In the near future, THE DAM will work on a special curated collection of artworks with these students, offering an onboarding opportunity to their network, as well as ours. We're very excited to share more as that time comes closer.

We explored the fundamentals of onchain provenance, digital ownership, and why this medium represents a pivotal shift in how culture is recorded and preserved for the long term.
