But there was great endeavour from both sides

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

But a bit like Scotland usually, it was Italy that lacked the cutting edge.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

The difference between the teams was the scores. Simple as that. They had plenty of possession and moved it from side to side.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

I woudl have given it to Sean Lamont myself. I think Gray has been quite quiet.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

Jackson has a had a good game; been well looked after by Lawson at base of scrum and Lamont outside him.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

Encouraging. It's all about concentration now. They arel kicking a lot just now but they mustn't go back into their shell.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

Looks about right - strengthens the team in some ways

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

But we are getting the ball to the outside space and Walker and Danielli are causing problems out there.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

Need to go for more tries. If we sit back and lose concentration they will come back right back into it.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

Good score. Running straight and hard, committing the tackler. Paterson created a tiny bit of space by taking the inside shoulder

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

That's alright. We look a bit short in the backs - only half backs to come on.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

Game is far from over. We need another try to give us any confidence.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

Little half break by Jackson before the score reminds we haven't seen much of him. Perhaps not enough.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

Good score. Credit to Nathan Hines for the offload. Coudl go for more now.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

Best scrum position we have had so far. Better not waste it.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

Ghiralidini captained Itlay for a while - they think well of him and you could see why there. Quick to get back

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

Lamont was waiting for it to bounce - should have just dived on it.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

They have to keep playing. They had 15 phases at one point early on - got to do more of that.

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

that was a howler!

[Jim Telfer @STVJimTelfer]

Kick or not we played very well for 20 minutes and then let them off the hook
