Confluence wikis with 4,000 pages. Notion workspaces with nested databases three layers deep. Onboarding docs that are outdated by the time the new hire opens them. Google Drives where institutional knowledge goes to die in someone's personal folder.

The reason a Team OS in GitHub works where all of those failed is structural. A Confluence page is a document. A GitHub skill file is an instruction set. When you write "summarize customer calls using this format" in Confluence, it's a suggestion that humans ignore by week two. When you write it as a Claude Code skill, it executes automatically every time anyone on the team processes a call. Compliance becomes the default.

This is why the adoption curve is different. Traditional knowledge systems have a write-once-read-never problem. The person who writes the doc gets value from organizing their thoughts. Everyone else skips it. A Team OS has the opposite dynamic. The person who writes the skill gets value every time Claude runs it. Their teammates get value without even knowing the skill exists, because Claude loads it automatically when the task matches.

Anthropic's own engineers report using Claude in 60% of their work with a 50% productivity boost, and 27% of that work consists of tasks that wouldn't have been done at all without it. The leverage comes from shared context compounding across every person, every task, every day.

The 10-year knowledge management problem was always a distribution problem. GitHub solved distribution for code in 2008. Now it solves distribution for how your team thinks.
