(1/2) NEW YORK FAMILIES ARE LIVING IN FEAR FOR THEIR LOVED ONE’S SAFETY AND WELL-BEING.
38% of nonprofit I/DD service providers in the past year have closed or reduced programs due to a lack of staff, leaving too many NY families to fear for their loved ones' futures.
(1/2) LACK OF STAFF MEANS FEWER OPPORTUNITIES FOR NEW YORKERS WITH I/DD TO SUCCEED.
There are currently 19,788 vacant DSP positions in NY that the nonprofit service sector cannot fill, making it more difficult for NYers with I/DD to contribute positively to their communities.
(1/2) HIGH VACANCY RATES DISRUPT FAMILIES AND THREATEN THEIR LIVELIHOODS.
Parents of NYers with I/DD shouldn't have to choose between their livelihood and their children's safety because the programs they once relied on are now too short-staffed.
