The next phase of the Holborn Regeneration Programme is now underway, with works for the first of 144 homes on the multi-million-pound scheme officially starting.

Phase one, consisting of 48 family houses, including a new play area, is due to complete imminently. More than half the homes, delivered by Keepmoat, are already occupied.
The consultation follows last year's South Shields Conversation which attracted almost 1,300 responses which were used to help develop a masterplan. A further Conversation for Jarrow will be held next year.

The session saw some outstanding contributions really demonstrating how healthy and considered debate is vital to ensuring widespread engagement in local democracy.
Last week saw our Annual Intergenerational Debate return to the Council Chamber, bringing together residents of all ages for a session of spirited debate as part our strengthening local democracy programme of work.
Engagement in local democracy is key. We loved having older and younger residents together in the chamber, giving us their perspectives on the three discussion topics.
Today we will stop, gather and reflect at Remembrance Services across South Tyneside.
We remember all of those who have given their lives in conflicts around the world.
The initiative is part of a home-first’ approach to adult social care following feedback from residents who said they wanted to live well at home, rather than go into residential care. It is similar schemes at Thomas Bell House and Blenkinsop Court.
Borrowdale House in South Shields, previously a housing plus scheme, will from next week be used by people discharged from hospital who need additional support before going back home.
Cllrs Dixon, Berkley & Walsh recently visited ahead of the first residents arriving next week.
