Sexual violence against women is common & something needs to be done to stop it.
The mental health consequences of sexual violence are huge.
Black women are more likely to experience sexual violence & less likely to get effective support.
As I go into the final year of my doctorate I am more motivated than ever to make sure that Black women are given a voice via my research.
It's the final push and I will put everything I can into this project

When @tolly_t spoke about how a girl’s sexual activity (consensual or not) becomes apart of her story!
It’s so true. I’ve seen too many times in therapy and research work. Society continues to insist that women & girls can’t be people outside of their sexuality
The latest #TheReceiptsPodcast highlights how sexual violence against black women starts soooo young & becomes “a part of growing up”. Young blacks girls are seen as sexual objects but are not truly desired. They are convinced that sexual attention is validation.
@audreythefinest makes a good point. Knowledge about misogyny, feminism etc is important for everyone
It’s not taught well enough and a lot of women don’t get the chance to understand how much this impacts them & what are and aren’t healthy sexual interactions
