Yesterday marked what would have been Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 93rd birthday. While he is well known to almost everyone, it is not often mentioned that he was a democratic socialist.

He was organizing a Poor People's March to Washington DC at the time of his death. A campaign that called for the abolition of poverty. The campaign's demands included guaranteed income, guaranteed full employment with livable wages, and the creation of low-income housing.
