Sources: Milwaukee Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr. is exercising his $5.39 million player option for the 2026-27 season. The 25-year-old guard will remain a key piece for the Bucks in the post Giannis Antetokounmpo era.
Not a single player from the 2021 Bucks championship roster is still on the team:
Giannis Antetokounmpo - Heat
Khris Middleton - Mavs (FA this offseason)
Jrue Holiday - Blazers
Brook Lopez - Clippers
Donte DiVincenzo - Timberwolves
Bobby Portis - Heat
Sam Merrill - Cavaliers
Pat Connaughton - Free Agent
Torrey Craig - Free Agent
Thanasis Antetokounmpo - Free Agent
Jeff Teague - Retired
PJ Tucker - Retired
Bryn Forbes - Retired
Jordan Nwora - Overseas
Here is a key point in Bucks rebuild. There is zero upside in tanking because the Bucks don't have their own draft picks. The goal is to rebuild while being competitive. They now have the depth to be a .500 team. As for the draft, having two picks allows them to pick a guy with possible huge upside but also bust potential (like Ament) because they can use the other pick on a player who is ready now but might have less superstar potential. They also now have the $ to go after a youngish free agent (Miami's Norman Powell?). This rebuild will not be as ugly as some fear. It also helps that the new coach is top notch.
