☕️Zimbabwe coffee earns sustainability boost
Zimbabwean coffee is brewing a strong comeback.
As the industry’s recovery continues, this time led by small-scale growers, demand for its rich flavours is growing in premium markets around the world. But great coffee alone is no longer enough. Buyers increasingly want proof that it has been grown responsibly, with care for people and the environment.

This is why the latest report from #Enveritas is so encouraging. Co-funded by the 🇪🇺European Union @euinzim and working alongside the Horticultural Development Council (@hdczim), Enveritas conducted an extensive EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) due diligence assessment across coffee farms in Zimbabwe.

Using advanced #satellite imagery and ground-level mapping, the assessment verified that over 99% of mapped farms show zero #deforestation since the EUDR cut-off date of December 31, 2020. This strong compliance with EUDR standards directly strengthens the industry's reputation in key export markets.

Enveritas is an independent, non-profit organisation that works with many of the world's leading coffee brands. It conducts on-the-ground assessments of coffee farms in more than 30 countries, measuring environmental, social and economic practices such as forest protection, worker welfare, water management and traceability. These assessments help give international buyers confidence that the coffee they source meets globally recognised responsible sourcing standards.

For 🇿🇼Zimbabwe's coffee sector, this is another positive sign that the industry’s comeback is gathering momentum. As the industry continues to grow, strong #sustainability performance will help keep Zimbabwean coffee flowing into high-value markets around the world.

A birth certificate is more than just a document it is every child's first legal identity. Without a birth certificate, a child is invisible. Hon. Chido Sanyatwe, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs @Moha_Zim said birth certificates are a child’s right and key to their identity and dignity.

She emphasised that her Ministry is implementing targeted measures to ensure universal birth registration, including the deployment of mobile registration units to reach children in all communities.

Young people belong at the decision-making table.

The #TeamEurope Youth Sounding Board met Ambassadors and representatives from Embassies of 🇫🇷🇬🇷🇳🇱🇵🇹🇷🇴🇪🇸🇸🇪 and @euinzim🇪🇺 to discuss how Team Europe is supporting young people in 🇿🇼Zimbabwe.

The exchange focused on entrepreneurship, sexual & reproductive health, green governance, study opportunities and support to local businesses. The Board also reaffirmed its role as a bridge between Team Europe and young people, helping ensure youth voices shape programmes and policies.

“As we commemorate this important day, Sweden reaffirms its solidarity and partnership with Zimbabwe in supporting stronger health systems, improved working conditions for health workers, and continued investment in maternal and reproductive healthcare services.
