Urgent message to @trussliz: for few years @FCDOGovUK has made #MediaFreedom a major focus, initiated by your predecessor @Jeremy_Hunt
In #HongKong, over the past year or so #PressFreedom has been under ever-increasing assault. Today it faces another threat
When will you act?
Stand News acting editor-in-chief Patrick Lam was taken out of the building where the newsroom is located on Wednesday at around noon, and was escorted into a vehicle by police officers.

Hong Kong Watch is deeply concerned about the police raid on the home of Ronson Chan, head of @HKJA_Official & deputy editor of @StandNewsHK
We will monitor developments, but urge international community to act urgently to defend whatever remains of #PressFreedom in #HongKong

Outrageous. After the fall of the Apple Daily, @StandNewsHK is the largest pro-democracy media that exists in HK safeguarding our freedom of press. It is obvious Beijing does not cease the political purge. Beijing is eradicating all room of the opposition.
#StandWithHongKong
@StandNewsHK is the largest pro-democracy media remaining after the fall of Apple Daily. Its reports reveal the government’s corrupted behaviors and the agency is thus considered subversive by the authority. Beijing seeks to control the flow of information among the public.
When US is handling the election certification, HK gov just arrests nearly all pro-democracy activists and nominees in the primaries today.
As a nominee in the democratic primaries, I urge the US gov and Free World to stay alert and stand with HK by all means.

Yet more heartbreaking, outrageous news from #HongKong
Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai and ex-Apple Daily journalists face additional charge over 'seditious publications' - Hong Kong Free Press HKFP https://t.co/BXPKSdljVD
Last few days of 2020: Jimmy Lai ordered back to prison over conspiracy and collusion charges under #NSL. Never released since then.
Last few days of 2021: Six former and current @StandNewsHK staff including @hoccgoomusic arrested for “publishing seditious publications”.
❗️BREAKING
The National Security Law branch of the Hong Kong Police is raiding Ronson Chan Long-sing’s home for a “seditious publications" charge”.
Chan is the Chairman of the Hong Kong Journalists Association and a journalist of @StandNewsHK.
Stand News reports that police officers from the national security department arrived at the home of its news editor, Ronson Chan, in the early hours of the morning, saying they are investigating a case of conspiracy to distribute seditious publications.
When free press is the focal point of human rights discussion this year, CCP keeps charging journalists and media that dare to challenge them and speak the truth. Among many others, the arrests of Denise Ho, Margaret Ng are prime examples. RELEASE THEM!

"It is a battle against oblivion. For so long, HK has been the only place where can hold vigils to commemorate victims of the 6.4 and that defines HK as the only beacon of liberty and truth under the CCP’s governance."

On his way to the court from prison, @joshuawongcf hold up 3 fingers and a gesture of heart. He is one of the bravest and most sturdy democratic activists that I have ever met. I think his heart and minds are occupied by the struggles around the world, including in #Myanmar.
150/? - This is the 150th episode of a series I do where I go over some of Hong Kong’s worst police brutality moments! #hongkong police attacked an innocent journalist and destroyed his equipment because he was recording them!

BREAKING:
Dozens of winners of 2020 #HongKong pro-democracy primaries, such as Lester Shum, Ventus Lau, Fergus Leung and Gwyneth Ho, have been arrested under the National Security Law.
Worse still, there is #NO presumption of innocence under the #NSL.
