Nurse travelling through Revolutionary Russia in 1917 to join Dr Elsie Inglis & Scottish Women's Hospital Unit in Romania...and hopefully back again #1917Crowd
@AleksandraLopa6 Thank you for your kind words Aleksandra. I am of course just one of very many. It was lovely to work alongside the Serbian warriors - perhaps like you say your great-grandfather was one of the ones I met.
Dad and the Bill the dog meet me at Herne Bay. Pouring wet night. It is lovely to be back by Jove! So ends the journal of a Scottish War Horse or a Silly Wandering Housewife #ScottishWomensHospital#1917LIVE
Awaiting the 10.38 from Newcastle to London Kings Cross. Dr Inglis said goodbye to us in her room before we left the hotel. She's awfully ill #Scottishwomenshospital#ElsieInglis#1917LIVE
Looking at the engine and drinking wine with the engineer. Mac rushes in. Tug about to leave. We fly down steps. Everyone else waiting marked disapproval written large across faces. Wouldn't have been Inky and me if not last to leave! #Scottishwomenshospital#1917live
Haven’t left boat. It broke loose from buoys & tugs and drifted off. Saw small boat leave with luggage & most others. Awful moment. Missed steamer by 2 feet. Hit another boat. Torpedo boat and a sub cleared just in time! Wine and cigs now, but jolly lonely so few of us #1917LIVE
An awful day of wind and rain. Many of the Serb troops & officers have already left the boat for the next part of their journey back to Serbia - next stop Farnham! Our friend "Napoleon" has left us a memento #ScottishWomensHospital#1917LIVE
Anchored in South Shields. The Russian who came along with us as a private was earlier shut up by the Captain as a spy. Has been tried in Parker's room. He is to be shot at dawn #1917LIVE
Inky on with the English officer (I again with the Chief. More enemas etc) The poor boy has died the same time we arrive at Tynemouth #ElsieInglis#1917LIVE
Up on deck in my pyjamas first thing. The most glorious sunset. Never saw such a lovely sky. Have seen coast of Scotland and now Farne Islands #ScottishWomensHospital#1917LIVE
We have seen land. Wild excitement! HMS Tenacious, a destroyer, has come along side and given orders as we stopped at lunchtime. It went on ahead full speed #ScottishWomensHospital#1917LIVE
Dr Inglis on the warpath despite her illness. Waited in the dining room until we had all appeared. Then she went to bed so we carried on our mutiny of cards and port. Apart from Inky & Mac who are nursing her tonight #ElsieInglis#1917LIVE
News from all fronts by wireless. Jaffa taken by Australians. Also two German ships in North Sea had sunk two of ours and Danish & Norwegian ships. All crew lost, so Parker says we must sleep in clothes next few nights. Awful sea so there wouldn't be much hope #1917LIVE
Dr Inglis up and about today. She's had Sturty up for sitting with her head on the captain's shoulder and now asks to see me - says she saw me with the little doctor sitting in my pocket! #ElsieInglis#1917LIVE
