Instead of getting caught out in lies everytime this happens (and often about Amy in particular), why not acknowledge that things haven't met fan expectations, and you're going to do better.

Chris is straight-up lying to fans after being caught up in the chat leaks where HE specifically is named as requesting Amy's bio be changed.

If they finally backpeddle and start showing Amy be affectionate again, is it a coincidence, or because over 100k people saw the leaks?

Does this all stem from 2010-era feminist-style mandates from the head of SEGA Ivo (yes, really.) regarding the portrayal of female characters?

Did Sonic Team really alter that Generations cutscene and Rouge model, or is pressure from Ivo to blame for all of this?

Maria's role in Shadow's backstory is also removed, even despite being integral to the plot of the most recent game. Why?

Just seen this. Sega of America instructs writers and freelancers (even when following source material sent straight from Japan!) to alter Amy's personality to obfuscate her romantic desires.

They know this upsets fans and dont have to do it, yet choose to anyways.

This isn't the first time SoA staff have specifically interferred with how Maria is presented.

Is the social media manager Katie behind this? There seems to be an ongoing hangup when it comes to this topic.

Sonic Twitter is mad at the new Shadow bio (again).
My take is that this is not OOC.

There's a simple reason why. It's because the characters are giving the answers themselves, as if it's from an interview. This is why many of the female characters refuse to give their weight.

This bio is just a localized version of the official Sonic Channel profiles that have existed since at least 2005.
Shadow saying he likes "Nothing" and dislikes "All of humanity" is older than most of Sonic Twitter.

But there's one more thing I haven't mentioned, since it's internal info:
The person who originally drafted this localized Shadow bio actually included Shadow's bond with Maria. It was the Sega of America lore team (Evan, Katie, Chris, and others) who removed it.

There is now direct confirmation SoA/Lore Team is purposely going in a different direction from Sega of Japan/Sonic Team.
It's not just Amy's feelings for Sonic that they're downplaying, they're also pushing for Shadow to "get over" Maria. Japan is in a tug-of-war the West to preserve the characters as they are.

Unfortunately, Sonic Twitter will catch wind of this too late. I only know because of leaks, and since it's me saying it... well... ignore me. 🥴
