SWRTA seeks to support local CTA leaders and members in SW MO. In addition to providing professional development to members, we link local CTAs with MSTA.
Students report feeling more connected to school & peers when they feel their teachers:
💚Go out of their way to help students
💚Make time to talk about what students want to discuss
💚Take a personal interest in students

Play is the work of kids. It’s not just running around and yelling. Play helps kids solve problems, negotiate with others, and develop self-regulation skills. When recess is reduced or omitted, you are taking away the learning of significant and necessary skills.
The finalists for Missouri Teacher of the Year have been announced, including four MSTA members: Kaylin Bade (Washington), Sabria El-Kurbu (Moberly), Heather Helle (Scott City R-1), and Kathryn Inman (Greenville R-2). Congratulations to all! #MOTOY
Watch a teacher make roughly ~1,000 instructional decisions in about 45 seconds. Only a few of them are about the lesson but the lesson depends on ALL of them. This is one of the hardest things to explain about teaching to people who have never taught.
This year, there are 53 teachers in @officialSPS who have been in the classroom for 25+ years. Ralene Graves, in her eighth year at Weller Elementary, is one of the longest-serving. See why she comes back, year after year. https://t.co/TrlcvBy0hK via @springfieldNL
