@GolfweekNichols should be noted shes half Philipina....and there have been many Philipina winners on the LPGA tour. seems a bit "race baity" to frame the story this way
@DrMike73248055@GolfweekNichols there is literally an entire arm of the charitable side of the PGA/LPGA called PGA Works thats sole purpose is to foster inclusion in the sport and industry of golf. they fund it better than the charitable arm for veterans.....you're WAAAAAAY off base.....
Introducing "Team Southwest PGA" , who will be representing Arizona at the PGA HOPE Secretary's Cup competition in Charlotte, NC this May.
Held in conjunction with the PGA Championship each year...this is the "Veterans Major"! Good luck to our team!
If you are looking for (another) person to pull for at Q-school.
Marcus Plunkett is 30 years old. And came from a very non-traditional golf program. That in itself wouldn't be that unusual. Except Plunkett went to West Point.
Was an all-conference player there, but also trained to be a soldier. After graduation did his five-year Army commitment in the Army, including deployment to Afghanistan.
After getting out of the Army in 2021 he emailed Tommy Biershenk, a well known coach in the South and said he wanted to play pro golf.
Just talked with Tommy, he said he laughed at the email. Agreed to meet him and "give him a little piece of reality about pro golf."
"25 balls in, I was blown away" Biershenk said. The pair continued to work together. This year Plunkett won the money title on the Dakotas Tour. And made it through the first two stages of Q-school.
He heads into the third round T15. The 6 foot 5 Army veteran is just three strokes outside of a PGA Tour card.
A 30-year-old West Point grad, is one of the many stories that make Q-school.
@SamanthaSMarks Same thing happened to me on a round at LPGA national once.
Lady from the Epson tour went out 8 minutes in front of me early one morning...
I played 18 in 2 hours and 30 minutes and never caught her.

Our season didn’t end quite when we wanted it to, but sometimes that’s how this game goes.
2023-24 was definitely a season to remember, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the entire Wildcat Family.
Thank you all for cheering us on!
