The Australian Labour Mobility Team has been in Dili for the last week training the Labour Sending Unit (LSU) in Timor.
We have been going over all aspects of the recruitment process, including medicals, visas and superannuation. One week down and already so much achieved! 🇹🇱

We were at the Hort Connections event in Melbourne this week - one of the biggest horticulture conferences in Australia 🍇🍋🍊
It’s great to see where the growth is in the horticulture space and where our Timorese seasonal workers will fit into that! 🇹🇱

The SWP Liaison met with a group of citrus pickers in Eastern NSW 🍊🍋
The grower has grown for three years and now has over 40 Timorese at the farm! 🇹🇱
The farmer says that the SWP offers reliable, trained workers which gives him piece of mind to grow his business.

Meanwhile, back in #Timorleste - congrats to new English students. With the Secretariat of Employment Australia is supporting training as a pathway to the seasonal workers program and Pacific Labour Scheme @SWP_TL @SWPAustralia . Good for Timor-Leste, good for Australia.

Last week, the Labour Attache, Tony Armindo, visited Timorese seasonal workers at a hospitality employer in Northern Australia distributed certificates to the employees.
The certificate will support the workers to find jobs into future.

The SWP Liaison, Lucy Rodgers, was in Tasmania last week presenting at the Fruit Growers Tasmania workshops about the Timor-Leste SWP.
The programme is very popular with farmers and hopefully a few more will be recruiting!
