We bickered, argued, laughed, and cried together. We loved each other. I've seen it at the Game Store I managed for 13+ years. Nerd culture was healthy in 00's until Disney thought we needed their bullshit opressed struggle.
Repost if you agree ๐ D.E.I is poison!
As much as it pains me to say it, the modern BioWare got exactly what they deserved and what EA planned for them.
BioWare founders we stood by for 20 years were chased off by DEI invaders who "tolerate" only their kind. ๐ต๐ธ๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ
Their legacy is three major flops and a 6 year Mass Effect trailer that never materialized. Everything they/them touch from D&D to Star Wars and BioWare turns to... ๐ฉ
Those narcissists gaslight fans and never take responsibility for their blunders. Every problem is external - capitalism, bigotry, Trump.
There isn't a single financially successful WOKE idea or a game. It tells you everything you need to know what gamers love.
Let's not pretend like BioWare's axing happened out of blue. The writing was on the wall.
the most disgusting part about BioWare closing down are all the chuds saying itโs deserved???
what the hell do you fucks actually like besides repeating the same shit take from grifters who peddle outrage for crumbs of change and internet clout
@GeraltofGoonia FF1-6 snob here. So far itโs fucking dope. Itโs not groundbreaking but a solid return to simple escapist fun.
Bravely Default amd Octopath wore its skinโฆ now we have proper turn based Final Fantasy.
THEY MADE CLASSICS
Gaming was a thriving hobby for nerds and gifted creators who made us dream.
Franchises lived or died by the quality of the product and uncensored fan criticism.
Untill activist invaders segregated us into their identity groups and poisoned the well.๐
Final Fantasy: Resonance
2 hours in on Switch...
โ๏ธ Brilliant Octopath diorama styled 2D/3D graphics lend perfectly in this "dream come true" scenario
โ๏ธ Backgrounds are detailed, character sprites are nice and large, with detailed animated acting, Akihiko Yoshida's inspired portrait art direction is sublime
โ๏ธ Combat is fast and satisfying, with punchy sound effects and classic menu system but modern UI
โ๏ธ The story is your traditional, I'd say typical Final Fantasy I-VI fare, the writing is direct and to the point, NO bloated lore dumps
โ I hope they patch dungeon map and menu navigation tips to have permanently OFF, it's annoying to have them come back after each battle
@TheElusiveEye1@DanticsOfficial I canโt say more to this since I havenโt read them but I know Drewโs amazing talent from SW.
I just separate the function of tie ins novels from the main thing.
Iโm not here to gatekeep what should or shouldnโt be. To me, if you donโt have any meaningful Shepard Galaxy-saving stories to tell, move on.
Create new original IPs.
Star Wars EU books were excellent world building supplemental material but theatrical films were always a Skywalker saga.
Disney tried to milk it by serializing it on a small screen and where did they get? A diluted, boring shovelware.
@TheElusiveEye1@DanticsOfficial I havenโt read my copies yet but Iโd argue books are entirely different medium. They are tie ins that build the lore. The game is the main course.
I am a MASSIVE Bioware fan, who loved the Mass Effect series, including Andromeda, and the Dragon Age series, including Dragon Age: Inquisition. I fully and entirely respect ALL of Bioware staff and the incredible writers behind these projects, BUT...
When you make the decision to have your game become the vocal piece of political ideology, and ideology specifically focused on gender ideology, cramming a politicized perspective on identity--and I'm not even talking about gender identity, I'm talking about the acceptable methods of which to identify someone by, when you use your game's narrative to force THIS down your audiences throats, you're effectively saying we don't care if we wager our entire reputation on these points, deal with it or don't play our games, and the result unfortunately is...a lack of faith within the products you produce, superseding the great hits, because YOU made the distinction they didn't matter.
I said the same thing similarly regarding Gears. Nobody actually cared that a Lesbian was in Gears or that LGBTQIA+ had "representation" or "inclusion" in the game, but people DID CARE that the game's NARRATIVE was focused VERY STRONGLY on that, vs the world and story they anticipated, and when you subrogate developing these beautiful universes to instead force the political ideology of the developers creating them down your audience's throats, you run the risk of people overwhelmingly disliking your game--and saying "I don't care if you don't like it don't play" as Bungie did, has NEVER, not even once, worked out.
Dragon Age: Veilguard took that storied, historic and powerful reputation that Bioware had all but cemented, and completely replaced it with this crazed, woke, "like it or leave it" mentality, and so folks left it, all but almost entirely creating the distinction of any works published or created after to exist with a stigma moving forward, and it was highly and entirely avoidable. I'm so sorry to see this studio go, because I've been more than excited for the next Mass Effect entry, but dammit, you did it to yourselves.
@J0hnADouglas No, I remember selling those at my store. I just never found enough strong exclusives to warrant the purchase. Aside from Uncharted, Resistance, and Killzone... I can't think of any.
