His name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And he will have his vengeance, in this life or the next.
@jonnypollock Yeah, I think it’s lack of exposure. They don’t get the air time they deserve. We stumbled into a rhythm of preaching through one every November and I’m so glad we did. It’s always amazing how relevant the prophetic calls in those books are.
I overheard my 3 yr old twins talking, one was asking the other to “Sing praise to God!” I thought, how cute, then I looked and saw she was pointing a nerf gun at her sister and commanding her to sing praise. Still cute, just in a different way. 😂
@jonnypollock Or perhaps another answer would be a spirituality like Gideon and his family: worshipping God while there is also an altar to Baal in their front garden.
I am quietly observing a man whose likeness in almost every way to Jon Goodman’s character Walter Sobchak is simply incredible. I really want to walk up and remind him that “the dude abides.”
@jonnypollock Why doesn’t my church show up as a bigger dot than others on the map? Will there be a premium feature that allows my church more exposure so that I can win the race to new people? If so, how much will you charge for this?
Some great advice I got at 19 was to “Quit talking about it and be about it.” This cliche has a good amount of truth in it. At some point you actually have to do it. Too many people love to talk about doing hard things but never actually do it.
People have already said it in many ways but as I see on social media the fruit that many churches have produced I am reminded that in our quest for relevance and influence churches need to ask the question, “who is actually influencing who?”
dear apple, the iPod needs to come back. not for nostalgia. for the parents who want their kids to love music and audiobooks without a browser, social media, and the whole internet attached to it
