Classroom assessment research in the US has been ignoring teacher-made tests for nearly 2 decades. I explain why this is a problem and describe a framework for analyzing math tests in my latest article. https://t.co/PHBDm1Pbdf
The article I wrote with @CarlaMEvans during my internship with @NCIEA1 last year has been published! We developed a framework identifying the assumptions that must hold for performance assessments to actually drive instructional improvements.

First first journal article is now live!
I investigated math teachers' use of computation in classroom tests before & during distance learning.

Despite continued use of computational questions, few teachers reported using shown work to determine student understanding or to assign partial credit. Instead, they relied heavily on auto-grading and reported collecting student work mostly to deter cheating...
@mhlittle312 I like the framework of beliefs as a "sensible system" where people can hold some beliefs generally, but there may be stronger beliefs that overpower them in certain contexts (e.g., problem solving is important in math, but these S's aren't ready for that...)
@eggyonline I can lay back while propped on pillows. If the angle is too low, I get the head tingles right away and know to adjust. You can play around with how propped up you are and find something that works for you.
@CmonMattTHINK Recent research (e.g., Kop et al., 2020) suggests that graphing by hand is associated with greater symbol sense and reasoning about parent functions/transformations.
@mathletters @imostafaa2@drawboard Hm, it looks like your selected tool icon is different from the ones I have. Here's a video with the two icons that work for me to click links
@imostafaa2 @mathletters @drawboard I've been using it for years and find it really helpful. They also have bookmarking options and tons of annotations using either the mouse/keyboard or a touchscreen and stylus to make notes/draw freehand
I did this internship last summer, and it was a wonderful experience! Highly recommend for any grad students interested in educational assessment/measurement!
We're proud to continue our summer internship for advanced grad students in educational measurement. Come work with top professionals to address current technical, policy, and practical challenges. @AndrewDeanHo@RbnLake@DerekCBriggs@NCME38@AERA_Div_D https://t.co/0koIGdTxmQ
