Corn yield gains in the U.S. are no longer tied to higher plant densities. 🌽
Recent genetic progress is driven by increased yield per plant—not improved crowding tolerance—highlighting a clear decoupling between yield and plant density.

🚨 The TRUTH about farm bailouts is OUT—and it’s worse than you think. 🚨
Over the last 8 years, the U.S. government has sent $130 BILLION in emergency aid to farmers.
Sounds good, right?
WRONG. The money isn’t going to farmers—it’s going straight to BIG CORPORATIONS. 💸
Here’s how it works:
Farmers like Adam and Scott get a "bailout."
But that money immediately goes to the corporations they owe for seeds, fertilizer, machinery—anything they need to farm.
Meanwhile, the cost of those inputs has TRIPLED since the 90s. 😡
Farmers are paying WAY MORE for the same things. But the prices they get for their crops? Barely enough to cover it. They’re breaking even at best. 💔
But the mega-corporations? They’re raking in huge profits. 💰
Monsanto and Bayer merged in 2015—and no one stopped them.
Now, a handful of companies control almost everything—seeds, fertilizer, machinery.
Let’s break it down:
Farmers might gross $500/acre.
But they’re paying $490 for inputs.
That’s how these companies inflate prices and squeeze farmers dry. 😤
And when farmers can’t make ends meet? These same corporations go to YOU—the taxpayer—for a bailout. 🤯
Instead of lowering prices, they’re laundering your tax dollars to keep their profits sky-high. 💸
The ag industry is a multi-billion dollar scam.
The government is just letting it happen. 😡
Farmers deserve better. It’s time to fight back and take control of our food system.
We the People must defend farmers, demand real reform, and break up these monopolies before they destroy the heart of American agriculture. ✊
Farmers need our support. Let's make our voices heard. 📢

Loblaw turns to Asia for canned corn — bypassing Nortera (owned by Québec’s Fonds de solidarité FTQ & Caisse de dépôt).
Local farmers and processors lose, while imports from Thailand win shelf space.

Western bean cutworm update – Winchester Research Station: Moth trap counts are climbing, but the rate of increase is slowing — suggesting we’re at or near peak flight, and just a few days from peak egg laying. Egg mass finds remain low, though varies by field.
Since 2021, Tar Spot has been spreading in Ontario affecting corn crops from Essex to Niagara and now in central Ontario. The disease thrives in warm, humid conditions, and can severely impact yield. Early detection, timely fungicide application, and hybrid selection are key to managing this threat. Stay proactive! #ontag #OntarioCorn

It’s about that time…. Cow Chow time! Milkline is a great way to estimate timing. For horizontal storage, prefer 65-70% plant moisture, uprights 60-65%. At 1/2 to 2/3 milkline, whole plant moisture is around 60-70%.
Soybean Aphid Update for East ON: Aphid population is still rapidly increasing. Beneficials are mostly missing in action. The number of fields at or above the control threshold is rising quickly. All soybean fields should be scouted for aphids. Control: https://t.co/E1Ckzj4dRn
