@dshyde This is a lovely recollection, Susan. I remember his love of good food, jokes, soccer, conversation, and good living in general. He loved fine clothes and I have a tie he gave me that had been made by his tailor (of course he had one in Portugal). We are all so sad .

@NarangVipin Very sad. He was a giant in the field of civil-military relations, among other things, and also very generous to me while I was writing a book on the topic, sharing some of his own field notes and giving me detailed feedback. He will be much missed.
