After a year of living & learning, we're back for season 6! 🕺
We're going back to basics and covering all the sh*t we should've learned in school, like:
1⃣ Getting in shape as an adult
2️⃣ Creating projects online
3️⃣ Optimizing your space
And more. First ep drops tomorrow ‼️
I didn't think a sport where whether you would puke or not would be that appealing - but congrats to @stephsmithio and @calvin_rosser for making it so in my fave indie podcast https://t.co/oCSDyYBsJI
Thankful for many things.
But one that I'm esp thankful for is @internet_pipes. Coming up on 2 years + ~3k members.
Each year, ppl ask if there's a yearly sub.
Each year, I say "no" and continue treating it like a digital playground for us all.
Not too late to join us 👀⬇️🛝

Proud.
3 years ago, I wrote a list of generation-defining stats (like the fertility decline, tuition inflation, esports growth) that reached millions.📈
Now, I'm back with more!
From space debris to drone delivery to extreme weather… over a dozen digits that may define the decade ⬇️
For the folks who think they "hate running", I was in the same boat until around a year ago.
And now I'm running my first marathon in 2025!
Talked through the uphill battle of getting fit as an adult on the latest ep of @SYDLIS ⬇️

The latest @internet_pipes event was maybe my favourite yet!
We had sooo many fun, quirky things to explore:
📸 a camera that prints poetry
😎 a full custom AR rig
⌨️ an e-ink typewriter
🧬 a pre-drink probiotic
And so much more. Including @danshipper, @shl, & @WaltHickey! 🤩
🚨PSA: A solar storm is making the Northern Lights visible in atypical places, including significant parts of North America.
If you’re nearby, get outside and see them. Drive a little if you need to.
One of the few experiences that is SO much more magical than the pictures. ✨
I've met so many people in SF who have no idea the @internetarchive HQ is in the city and that they offer free tours on Fridays.
Took the @internet_pipes crew there last week and it was one of the coolest tours I've ever done.
I learned so much:
• The non-profit has archived nearly 1T (yes, trillion!) webpages since 1996
• The average lifespan of a website = 100 days
• They have collections for all kinds of things, from the Library of Congress to patents to the Grateful Dead. They even have a malware collection!
• As you can tell, they host all kinds of formats (text, audio, video, software), despite being known for webpage indexing.
• The company hosts all of their own data and confirmed it would be way too expensive to run otherwise – even with a hefty AWS discount. They also use the city of SF's dark fiber network to upload continuously.
• You can see their physical servers at the HQ, although they have backups in several countries so no single gov could shut down the project. They even have some data at the Great Library of Alexandria in Egypt!
• Their HQ is in an atypical spot: an old Christian Science church. It turns out they bought it because it looked like their logo, not the other way around.
• They've maintained many things in the church, although made it their own. For example, they've turned the hymn board with internet-relevant numbers like 200, 404, & 451.
• The hard-working people behind the archive get a statue that stands alongside the pews once they hit 3 years there.
• They probably have one of the most valuable datasets in the world, but they still refuse to collect or sell user data despite pressure from many people to do so. In fact, they even have a lawsuit against the US government.
• They're funded by grants, donations, and partnerships to digitize content. They also have an API, though it's free and encourage people to build off of it.
• They run free events, including movie nights for films that enter the public domain!
If you're in the city or passing by, the tour is a fun (and free) addition to any week. Long live the web!
