After a strong start, "Street Fighter" nosedives into nonsense.
"This martial arts video game adaptation becomes disastrously scattered, between setups and payoffs at complete odds, confounding ADR, and a total lack of any actual conclusion. It’s a shame, given how enjoyable the film initially is," reads Variety's review.

#StreetFighterMovie: One of the most frustrating movie experiences I've ever had. The number of times I went back and forth between thinking this was one of the worst video game adaptations I've ever seen, and recognizing that a much better movie was peeking through in brief flashes of stylistic flair and genuinely fun moments.
The characters are all fun (and the cast do all seem to be having a blast), the soundtrack is a banger, and there's some great anime scenes in this.
But its overlong, the pacing is awful, with everything feeling way too rushed, and the editing is atrocious and coked-out. It also has one of the biggest "f*ck you" sequel bait endings I've ever seen.
I'm still waffling between giving this a D or a C grade review; all I know is that the final product just isn't good.
Just got home from the theater after watching Street Fighter... And I have a lot to say about it. This is NOT a good movie...
I get people wanting to just have a good time, but there's a ton of people who are not being honest about this film. There are more excuses going around for it than honest discussion and criticism of it... A big problem with Street Fighter is that it tries to please fans to a detrimental level, and yet overlooks and egregiously changes things to a terrible level... (1/X)
And sadly, there's a lot of FGC people who are not being 1000% honest or keeping the same energy about this movie... Real talk. @ernestolopezjr
