I then asked him which monkeys were going to buy & eat his bananas. He immediately realized what a guffaw he had made. I asked him why it was only on bananas that there was this scenario. He responded that all Farm Boy Stores had this monkey on Bananas - it’s a company policy.

I love shopping at Farm Boy. But today had a horrible experience there. I wanted to buy Bananas & above me I saw what looked like a monkey swinging above the bananas. I had the shock of my life. This could not be happening here in Canada.

I asked to see the manager. An Assistant Manager on duty came to see me. I asked him, “Why is a monkey effigy swinging over the Babanas?” I told him that a lot of racists referred to blacks as banana eating monkeys. He then off handedly said It’s just coz monkeys eat bananas”
