Kilvinder visited the Sheffield United Community Foundation last night, where she met Rob, Shannon and their colleagues - an inspiring team working with children and young people aged 8 to 18.
The Foundation provides football and multi-sport coaching alongside dedicated youth work, supporting boys and girls, many of whom are excluded from school, in alternative provision or vulnerable to negative influences.
The team is building trusted relationships, offering positive role models, teaching social skills and instilling the discipline that comes through sport. Their work gives young people the chance to feel supported, listened to, and hopeful about their future.
Kilvinder particularly enjoyed speaking with a group of 14-year-old girls who confidently shared their ambitions, ranging from becoming a nursery nurse to a social worker for older adults and a dentist.
This initiative is partly funded by the @SY_VRU, supporting efforts to tackle exploitation and violence across the region.
Kilvinder emphasised that although there is always more to do, it’s vital to highlight what good practice looks like and showcase the importance of this work. She looks forward to visiting other projects supported through the VRU grants scheme.

In South Yorkshire, the policing precept makes up about 11% of a typical council tax bill. Mayor, @olivercoppard is inviting residents to share their views on his proposals before he sets the police precept.

Data shows that drink drivers are more likely to be men, aged 25 to 49, who are travelling alone. Offences are more likely to happen on 30mph roads because offenders are more likely to be travelling short distances close to home, such as returning from a licenced premises. Drink drive collisions are more likely to happen when it’s dark. Do you know someone who drink drives? Are You Mate Enough to have a word before it’s too late? #OpLimit
Today (28 Nov) marks the start of a national awareness campaign to remind people of the risks and consequences of drink driving. As well as the summer months, December sees a peak in the number of collisions involving an impaired driver. So, if your plans involve drinking, make sure you’ve made a a plan to get home safe. We are asking ‘Are You Mate Enough?’ to be the designated driver, to have a word with your friends or to make sure you all get a taxi home? Let’s stay safe this Christmas. #OpLimit
