Farooq Abdullah was our Chief Minister then, yet his government failed in its foremost constitutional duty to protect the life of every citizen. Before lecturing others on humanity, there must first be accountability for that incompetence & betrayal.

Vice Chairman, Panun Kashmir, Ravinder Guroo says, "We are against the restoration of statehood at this moment because the grievances of the Kashmiri Pandit community, which have remained unaddressed for the last 36 years, must first be resolved. First, we want those grievances to be addressed... A little peace has started returning to the Valley, but if statehood is restored and the Home Department comes under the state government, which is currently with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, then the situation could completely change..."

Even after three days of watching #MainVaapasAaunga, I still carry a storm of emotions within me. I simply can’t get over it.

I watched this film with an open mind, not merely as someone carrying the memories of my own past as a #KashmiriPandit #GenocideSurvivor, but as a human being trying to understand pain, loss, displacement & the deep human desire for justice.

Yet, some wounds are not erased by the passage of time. They remain alive beneath decades of silence, exile, unanswered questions & memories that refuse to disappear.

For #KashmiriPandits, the tragedy was never just about losing homes. It was about losing roots, ancestral lands, temples, neighbourhoods, traditions & a way of life that had flourished for centuries. It was about generations being forced to inherit the pain of an exile they never chose.

No society can truly heal by ignoring the suffering of any community. Healing demands truth, empathy, acknowledgement & the courage to face uncomfortable chapters of history.

Closure is not about hatred. It is not about revenge. Closure is about dignity, justice, recognition & giving every victim the respect of having their pain heard.

Only when we acknowledge every wound can #Kashmir genuinely move towards peace.

And my humble appeal, especially to Kashmiri politicians: please leave our pain out of politics. Do not reduce our suffering, our memories & our tragedy into a tool for agendas.

We have carried this burden for decades. Please allow us the dignity to heal.

And one last thing, please do not dismiss our lived experiences by saying “we did nothing.” Thousands of us are still living witnesses to those times. We remember what happened, who stood where & how history unfolded.

Truth may be uncomfortable, but healing cannot begin without accepting it…
