As I'm drawing the different stamp brushes for my upcoming Medieval Realms Map Builder, I periodically like to print sample sheets to see how everything reads on paper.
I just did this one the other day and thought I'd share it with you.
You follow a winding path through the hills until you spot a solitary figure standing motionless among the stones.
Wrapped in a weathered cloak, the druid neither greets you nor bars your way. The locals claim he has stood there longer than any living man can remember, watching the roads of the kingdom and speaking only to those fate has marked for a greater purpose.
The figure waits in silence, already knowing why youโve come.
A good map doesnโt just convey information, it invites you into a story.
Mountains, rivers, and forests tell us where things are. But a lone bear standing among the peaks makes us wonder why itโs there. Is it simply wildlife? Or is it a clue to a local legend that warns travelers who dare to cross the pass?
Small details like creatures, ruins, and monuments can transform a map from a reference into a world thatโs pregnant with meaning.
Memorable maps donโt just help us navigate from point A to B. They are an invitation to step into a world and uncover a story.
You come upon a clearing in the forest, and before you stands a great oak at its center.
From its branches hang the battle-scarred shields of fallen knights, weathered by wind and rain. Each bears the devices of warriors who once sought virtue, glory, and a name that would be whispered through the ages.
No birds sing beneath its boughs, and the air seems strangely still. Some say the Tree of Shields marks the beginning of a knightโs trial.
The shields sway gently in the wind, waiting for the next hand to claim them.
Also! I got an invite to Riverside Market up in Post Falls, ID ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐๏ธ for my first book signing ๐โ๐ป๐ so it you happen to be in the area, stop by and say hi ๐ and maybe buy a book ๐
Hey everyone๐ฒIts been a while. ๐ฒ Iโve been working on many projects since loosing my job last year. Its been a struggle, but I am finally able to announce my very own publishing company Iโve created to help other indie authors. โจhttps://t.co/N2KoO4QwUQโจ
