In 1957, the communist regime in East Germany made unauthorized emigration treason after an estimated 2.5 million people voted with their feet, fleeing the communist East towards the West.

So in 1961, the authorities closed the border, called the wall “the Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart”, and gave border guards shoot to kill orders.

People only ever risked their lives escaping in one direction.

A 92-year-old North Carolina man got so bored 2 months into retirement that he applied to work at Chick-fil-A...

...his smile, kindness, and passion for Jesus became so contagious that when he got sick and missed 3 days of work, an ENTIRE TOWN began asking where he was.

His name is Gilbert Martin.

Everybody calls him "Mr. Gil."

Mr. Gil is 92 years old, and works at the Chick-fil-A on Oleander Drive in Wilmington, NC.

He spent decades working in the natural gas industry and when he retired, he greeted people at Sam's Club for 12 MORE years, until they eliminated his position.

Most people would call that a sign to finally rest, but not Mr. Gil!

Two months into retirement, he got bored... so he walked into Chick-fil-A and put in an application.

He was 86 years old at the time.

He's been there ever since.

Not one or two shifts a week either. Monday through Friday.

He says the full schedule gives him more chances to be there for people who need him.

His official job is dining host.
Clean tables.
Clean floors.

But Mr Gil doesn't see it that way... as he describes it, his real job is:

"I get a lot of people that are coming in, just been to the doctor, and got bad news... I'm able to be an encourager; the Lord gave me that."

A 92-year-old man who could be resting at home... chooses to stand in a dining room five days a week... so strangers on the worst day of their lives don't have to be alone.

And Wilmington noticed.

When Mr. Gil caught a cold and missed a couple of days, the owner said he was FLOODED with HUNDREDS of customers who were panicked about him.

Mr. Gil has zero plans to retire.

He says if you ever see him working, come say hi.

"I don't know what 92 is supposed to feel like, but I feel great. Serving others has always brought me joy because I believe that a smile and a kind word can make someone's day a little brighter.”

We need more of this in the world!!!!

Islam rejects Christ. That’s not “almost” right: it’s completely wrong.

Muslims don’t need sentimental unity. They need the gospel. Same as Hindus, Buddhists, atheists and Mormons.

Stop treating Islam like it’s halfway home. Muhammad wasn’t an Ishmaelite. Islam isn’t Abrahamic. If Abraham had a passport, Mecca wouldn’t be stamped in it.

The only son of promise is fulfilled in Christ. The only seed is Christ. The only path to God is through Him. Stop idolizing theological fan fiction and go teach the truth of the gospel.

You know what's been lighting me on fire lately?

The more Muslims I talk to, the more I realize many of them already have a heart that longs for Christ.

Think about it.

If you wake up before sunrise to seek God...

If you genuinely want to obey Him...

If you grieve your sin...

If you fight to stay pure in a world that celebrates darkness...

Those desires don't prove you're far from God: They reveal a heart that was made for Him.

As a Muslim, I was taught that Christianity was shirk, the ultimate deception. But what if the Gospel is actually the fulfillment of the longing that's been in your heart all along?

Because that's what happened to me.

I wasn't running toward Jesus.

I was trying to disprove Him.

Yet the closer I looked, the more I realized I wasn't miles away from Him.

I was standing at the front door, afraid to knock.

And when I finally did, I didn't find condemnation.

I found scars: Proof that He came looking for me long before I ever started looking for Him.

So if you're Muslim and you're searching, questioning, or wrestling, don't assume you're far away.

You may be one honest prayer away from everything changing. I know I was.
