The journey from Mile 2 to Porto Novo should take about two and a half hours.

But Immigration delayed us for several hours.

Our journey ended up taking more than four hours.

One Immigration officer started asking the young girls questions one after the other.

Before we left Mile 2, the person leading them had already warned them.

If anyone asks questions, say you are traveling alone.

I heard that clearly at Mile 2 before we moved, but I didn’t understand what was going on. So minded my business.

So the first girl was asked her age. She said she was 26.

The officer then asked her year of birth and she could not answer.

The same thing happened with many of them.

They all lied about their ages.

Later it became clear that most of them were between 15 and 18 years old.

Then the officer asked where they were traveling to.

Some said Ghana.
Some said Togo.
Some said Benin Republic.
Some even said Burkina Faso.
