“1999 Summers #Lahore”
Slowly pass the languid summer noon hours
Like the blossoming, on our terrace vine, of flowers.
The streets are quiet at this time of the day
The cricket matches of early morning, now seem far away.
Sisyphus in digital age must be someone condemned to scroll his twitter timeline endlessly - till eternity. Someone not even with the ‘hope’ to reach the point where the twitter scroll ends.
@SShabbarZaidi Next time when you get the privilege to meet them, gather enough courage to tell them respectfully that SIR(s) your interference in politics and your infatuation with third class tried & tested ideas like Technocratic Set-up will lead us down the drain.
@SShabbarZaidi Sir,
Government, media & opposition - all three might or might not be serious about the severity of the situation BUT the issue lies with THOSE people with whom you are having secret meetings. They are the ones who are letting us come out of this quagmire.
It’s the second consecutive year in Lahore that we land in proper summers straight from proper winters. No spring in between. No shining golden days in between. No breezy nights in between. A week ago we were using heaters & now we are turning our fans on.
We are cursed.
streets & alleys like Faiz lane etc - commemorating stalwarts from these colleges & universities….
I wish we had the will, aesthetic sense & most importantly the finances to recover this truly "historic" area from tyre shops, noisy hotels, cloth & bicycle markets…
I often ramble around Anarkali, Neela Gumbad and wonder that if this entire area spanning from Urdu Bazar to Mayo Hospital, covering GCU, PU old campus, NCA, FC College old hostel, KEMU and all the other historical places within were declared a non-commercial knowledge city..
How beautiful & romantic it would look. No rickshaws, bikes & private cars - only public transport like some slow moving tram for students & visitors. Footpaths & pavements for carefree walks; Hostels for students; Huge libraries & small roadside tea shops - aesthetically named
What a massive chootya you have to be to honking your horn in the street at 12:40 in the night outside your house - for someone to open the gate for you. Fuck You. Get your filthy fucking ass outside your car and ring the bell 🤬🤬🤬
The unprecedented dust storm in Lahore at this time of the year and in this season is reflective of the unprecedented nature of things happening in Pakistan - an attempt at the life of the Regent Imran Khan - The nature is disturbed at this debauchery of certain powerful men
3/11/2007: A hated man, as insecure as powerful, trying to hold on to his power more demonically as his insecurity increases & his grip weakens.
3/11/2022: It's the same story BUT now we know that the fault lies NOT in the man BUT in his seat.

Those journalists who watched this political press conference are eligible to write ‘Witness to Blunders’ - provided that they have the foresight & ability.

Don’t fall for her words, she is actually trying to say:
I don’t feel good (not saying this directly) but this is a lesson for the (journalists) that (they) must all remember.
Lastly, always remember that being patronised & befriended by mafias is as dangerous as standing against them. At some point, you will become a liability, a threat for them, because you’d have seen & heard too much. So, it’s an advice to all the ‘new recruits’ to watch your steps
With prolonged social conditioning, memory cleansing operations & control over media outlets, any organised mafia can project itself as "protectors" & "defenders" in the imagination of the very people whom they have been terrorising for generations.

Now, see around yourself & answer me:
1) Whether the powers of our agencies regulated or demarcated by such laws which derive their legitimacy from people’s will?
2) Whether any government, formed by our votes, can impose ‘rule of law’ on our agencies & hold them accountable?
