@bnnuypuru Not sure if it has any real effect but I usually just scroll past things the moment I detect it as "AI slop" or "Culture war BS". I am simply looking for more wholesome Dracaena Malfoy story and artwork and unwilling to let someone profit off of my rage.
@Critical_Scribe@DivinaCalamis Bro, I saw your outline for the book rewrites and I would very much love to follow your version of the Dracaena timeline specifically if you ever choose to write more of it. https://t.co/TgkBGwVM1F
Everybody is throwing out Malfoid ideas so I figure I should throw my hat in the ring. I need a break from my own stuff anyhow and this is a neat creative exercise.
I’ll break it down book by book:
Book 1: Interactions here remain largely unchanged, except we add a new element of her (let’s call her Dracaena because since @/redteneri named her that and it was their art that kicked this off) not handling the rejection from Harry on the train even worse, making her more spiteful when toying with Harry’s friends out of clearer jealousy. During their trek into the woods to look for the unicorn, she could subconsciously stick close to him for support and when they are truly scared she clings onto him for dear life. This can be something Harry teases her about later if she tries to act snooty.
Book 2: Much like book 1, we leave events largely unchanged, but tweak the dynamics some more. Draceana could now be extra sharp with her words when mocking Ginny as Harry’s “girlfriend” here and there is some serious heat to the mudblood comment to Hermione because she’s close to Harry. Her becoming a seeker for Slytherin could be a moment of deeper shame because she is too focused on Harry to notice the snitch by her while he’s laser focused and catches it while she’s clearly distracted. The duel in this book could be her way of trying to win back her “honor” at being distracted, though she vehemently denies that it’s due to Harry. This could even lead to her accidentally summoning the snake instead of it being on purpose, giving her something else to regret but also be surprised when Harry speaks to it. When Harry and Ron sneak into Slytherin in disguise, this can be a great moment to have her venting about Harry and seemingly being fixated on him, though to the boys they think she’s just being bitter and a jerk.
Book 3: We can start to change the dynamics a bit here. We can have Draceana mocking Harry for being scared of Dementors, but in such a way that almost seems like she’s giving him advice on how to avoid or deal with them while hiding concern for Sirius’s presence under a mocking tone. When she gets injured by Buckbeak, Harry can show some genuine concern for her, which would be a clear moment to show her being flustered by the attention that she didn’t expect. Instead of having her participate with Crabbe and Goyle in trying to scare Harry by dressing as Dementors, she could be caught up in a misunderstanding while trying to stop them, but they don’t due to some building jealousy of her focus on Harry. This still results in her getting punished and a bit spitefully angry at Harry because she took a hit to her rep trying to help but he’s completely unaware.
Book 4: Further deviation can be done here. When Harry runs into Draceana at the World Cup she could be somewhat mellowed out but still “spiteful” in greeting him. She could even calm down a bit when talking to Ron and Hermione, even warning the latter (in a mocking way) to stay hidden when the Death Eaters are around. She could even show some shame when questioned by Harry on if her father is participating, implying that he is. She could genuinely be concerned for Harry (in her usual prideful way) when he’s selected for the Triwizard Tournament, and her involvement with Rita could be written as a tease that went way too far. Her support for Cedric could be a way to make Harry feel jealous, which may actually work somewhat. The whole ferret thing can stay since it’s a good tease for Harry to use (“You made for a cute ferret, Malfoy.”). At the very end, you can begin the divergence where Draceana does tell him to be careful more directly now that Voldemort is around, using Cedric as an example.

@Critical_Scribe Now, I will be honest, I never really interacted with the books or the movies but got a rough idea of what happens though fics. From what I'm reading here, Harry is currently pissed off at her. So, question: afterwards, when does he get the hint that she is actually on his side?
@Nick76220740@Turb0_Time I see. I guess what I was trying to getting at is that a story should run on its internal logic. Generally, there is no reason for her to be called "Malfoid" in-universe. Putting that name in your story makes it look like a typo.
@Critical_Scribe@yellowjerry96 Understandable, you can't rush art. Take your time, homie. Also, please be sure to have some sort of collection of all your fics for us to go through later. It's just convenient.
@Critical_Scribe@yellowjerry96 Not sure if you are gonna write it but I was hoping for a story right after the ending, the point where they are going over how the adventure has been for them. For instance, this is the first time they openly talk about the bathroom scene.
@NWBroJaneway I personally dislike it when there is a fic or comic that calls her "Malfoid" in-universe. Takes me right out of the story. She should be given a proper name such as "Dracaena Malfoy".
