今日は、2024年夏アニメ『2.5次元の誘惑』より、コスプレとラブコメをテーマに描かれた世界の中から、あるキャラクターを再解釈してみたいと思います。

今回制作するのは、作中の“正ヒロイン”ではないものの、人気投票で圧倒的1位を獲得した負けヒロイン、橘美花莉。

本フィギュアは、作中の『リリエル外伝』に登場するキャラクター「ミリエラ」をコスプレした橘美花莉をモチーフにしています。

レイヤーたちの物語を描いたアニメは、『こみっくパーティー』や『げんしけん』以降、長いあいだなかなか見られませんでしたが、2022年の『その着せ替え人形は恋をする』、そして2024年の『2.5次元の誘惑』の熱気によって、コスプレを準備し、アニメ文化を楽しむコミックマーケットの空気を、間接的ながらも感じることができました。

ミリエラがどのように新しく生まれ変わるのか、ぜひ見届けてください。

Today, I’d like to reinterpret a character from the 2024 summer anime 2.5 Dimensional Seduction, a romantic comedy centered around cosplay.

The character we’re working on is not the “main heroine” of the series, but the overwhelming winner of the popularity poll — the losing heroine, Mikari Tachibana.

This figure is based on Mikari Tachibana cosplaying as Miriela, a character who appears in the in-universe work Liliel Side Story.

Anime centered on cosplayers had been rare for a long time after titles like Comic Party and Genshiken. But with the rise of My Dress-Up Darling in 2022 and 2.5 Dimensional Seduction in 2024, we were able to once again feel, even indirectly, the atmosphere of preparing for cosplay and enjoying anime culture at events like Comic Market.

Please look forward to seeing how Miriela will be reborn.

She will not simply be burned away.
She will be born again in a new form.

今日は庵野秀明監督の
“新世紀エヴァンゲリオン”“に登場する
綾波レイのフィギュアを再解釈します。

1990年代の日本アニメを代表する作品である『エヴァンゲリオン』が放送される以前、1989年の宮﨑勤事件の影響により、オタク文化は表舞台から姿を消し、子どもや青少年向けのテレビアニメが細々と続いているような時代でした。

それ以前から「萌え」「コスプレ」「オタク」といった概念は存在していましたが、社会的には目立たない存在となり、放送でも自主的な表現規制が行われていました。

しかし、『エヴァンゲリオン』の大ヒットによって再び刺激的な作品が支持され、制作される土壌が生まれ、このような作品を愛するオタクたちも再び集まり始めました。

放送後は日本の文化史に大きな足跡を残した作品とまで言われるほどの人気を集め、『宇宙戦艦ヤマト』『機動戦士ガンダム』に続く第3次アニメブームの先導役となり、一般社会にも社会現象として受け入れられました。

Today, I’m reinterpreting a figure of Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion, directed by Hideaki Anno.

Before Evangelion, one of the defining Japanese anime of the 1990s, was broadcast, the 1989 Tsutomu Miyazaki incident pushed otaku culture into the shadows. At the time, television anime mainly survived as entertainment for children and teenagers.

Concepts such as moe, cosplay, and otaku culture already existed, but they had largely faded from public view, and broadcasters practiced voluntary restrictions on creative expression.

However, the massive success of Evangelion created an environment where more provocative works could once again gain popularity and be produced. Fans who loved this style of anime also began to gather once again.

After its broadcast, Evangelion became one of the most influential works in Japanese culture. Following Space Battleship Yamato and Mobile Suit Gundam, it led the Third Anime Boom and became a social phenomenon recognized by the general public.

There is a reason why it was selected as No. 1 in the Animation category of the Japan Media Arts 100, across all eras and genres.

During its original broadcast, Neon Genesis Evangelion also ranked No. 1 in the Anime Grand Prix.
