Ahead of the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, I had the pleasure of meeting with President @LulaOficial to discuss bilateral and multilateral issues. Our meeting today marks another step forward in strengthening the relationship between our two nations, which has grown significantly in recent years. We agreed to further enhance trade and investment ties across various sectors.

This morning, I received at my office the President of the Republic of Slovenia, H.E. Ms. @nmusar , who is visiting Ethiopia for discussions on various matters concerning our bilateral relations.

The Hambaricho Mountains represent a remarkable facet of Ethiopia’s rich natural and cultural heritage. Situated in the Central Ethiopia region, this mountain range offers stunning landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and significant historical value. Hambaricho Mountain and its surrounding ranges served as the administrative centre and seat of successive Kambata kings from the 16th century until the late 19th century.

I encourage citizens and visitors from around the world to experience the breathtaking beauty of Hambaricho and to take on the challenge of climbing its iconic 777 hand-carved stairs which I accomplished last week!

The development of the Anbesa Garage - Jukrose - Goro Square corridor has brought transformative changes to a once congested area. The addition of walkways, parking facilities, children’s playgrounds, shops, public plazas, public toilets, and designated taxi and bus bays has revitalized the neighborhood, making it more accessible, inclusive, and livable for all.

Corridor development projects across both urban and rural settings continue to introduce dignified, equitable public spaces that uplift communities. In particular, our recent rural corridor initiatives aim to rejuvenate rural areas and improve the quality of life for their residents.

I extend my sincere appreciation to the Addis Ababa City Administration and the subcities that have mobilized resources to expand the corridor initiative into the city’s peripheral areas. I encourage other subcities and cities across the country to keep prioritizing citizen-centered approaches as we reimagine and reconfigure urban life for the better.

Today, I held a discussion with representatives of the business community from across the country, building on previous engagements at the zonal, regional, and city levels. This platform was created to listen to the concerns and insights of the business sector, gathered from every level, and to incorporate them as valuable inputs into our ongoing national plans and development goals.

We are delighted to arrive in Gondar — a historic center of faith and nationalism, and one of the earliest symbols of Ethiopian civilization and wisdom. Gondar is a city on a journey of deep historical and national significance.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the President, the Cabinet, the Mayor, and the people of Gondar for their warm and gracious welcome upon our arrival at Gondar Airport.

During our stay, we will inaugurate a regional expo as part of the third Ethiopian Tamrit. We will also tour fully operational manufacturing industries and visit various development projects across the city.

In Werabet Shama Kebele, Hulbareg Woreda, Silte Zone, of the Central Ethiopia Region we also commenced the construction of the fourth model farmers’ village which is a part of the rainy season goodwill/volunteer initiative. Once completed, these homes will significantly improve the livelihoods of local farmers and promote a healthier standard of living.

During our visit to the zone, we also observed encouraging private sector participation in the agro-industry. As an example, we toured the Atot Integrated Agro-Industry. Initiatives like this should be encouraged, as they align well with the broader objectives set forth in the Bounty of the Basket initiative.

Goodwill development projects initiated in the city are being implemented as part of the Rural Corridor Development initiative. We also launched a pilot project to establish model rural village in Dubancho Kebele, Lemo Woreda, Hadiya Zone, in the Central Ethiopia Region. The construction of these demonstration villages is expected to improve farmers’ quality of life while supporting their continued engagement in agriculture.

We have officially launched the Kasanchis segment of the corridor development works, marking a significant milestone in our broader efforts to modernize our cities. Once seen as a dilapidated area—especially from above—Kasanchis now stands as a testament to the rewards of hard work and collective progress. Just a few days ago, we visited residents who were relocated from this area to a new, more conducive environment, reflecting our unwavering commitment to ensuring dignified living conditions for our communities.

The transformation of Kasanchis, completed in a remarkably short time, lays a solid foundation for smart city development and embodies our vision for green, clean, and modern urban centers. Undertakings of this scale require substantial effort, and while they may bring temporary inconveniences, these are necessary sacrifices made in pursuit of the greater good. Such progress must continue, for it carries with it renewed hope—especially for the future of our children.

As of this afternoon and over the next two days, members of the Prosperity Party Executive Committee will convene for the Party’s ordinary meeting to deliberate on key national priorities and party-centred thematic issues.

Addressing the areas that cause frustration for our citizens in service administration is a priority for us. Today, we inaugurated the Mesob One-Stop Service Center as part of this commitment.

There are three critical elements that define this new center: the transformation of an old, dilapidated building into a modern and aesthetically pleasing environment; the integration of a locally developed software system to streamline services; and the preparation of young professionals to deliver dignified and efficient service with a renewed attitude. Twelve institutions have begun offering 40 different services under one roof, enabling citizens to save time and access services more efficiently.

Developing systems like this addresses many of the frustrations our citizens face and, over time, will contribute to greater public satisfaction. Today marks a significant step, and Ethiopia will continue to expand on this pilot to ensure better service delivery for all our citizens.
