Imagine believing that a woman with a full-time job prior to giving birth would qualify for government assistance during FMLA? Or that WIC, Housing and Food Stamps are employer-provided programs?

Wages you say? Short term disability, wic, food stamps, and housing cover all of that, something most jobs offer or you could plan ahead and carry a personal plan.

@AOC @TimRyan In a country WITHOUT parental leave WHAT company is gonna hire a young woman instead of a man if pregnancies are FORCED to term. They might not want to admit it but it’s common sense. Investment in staff that might HAVE TO leave at any time will be seen as less viable. INEQUALITY

Most of my non-profit clients are fighting over money and afraid to talk about it with philanthropy because there’s no safe space to discuss how the non profit industrial complex exacerbates systemic inequities and perpetuates lateral violence.

@glennEmartin Tonight, my mind goes to the Black teenaged boy that my family saw get shot execution style by the police a few years ago at a “family-friendly” fireworks display. They filled him with lead and he had the nerve to live, so they sent him to prison, paralyzed.
