My lawyer has filed a contempt notice on my behalf against Kolkata Police and Govt of West Bengal for not complying with the Calcutta High Court order in Upamanyu Bhattacharya vs The State of West Bengal and Ors asking them to give a traffic block for two consecutive weekend nights at Chingrighata for the completion of a 366 meter Orange Line (construction of piers). State was ordered to give the dates by January 6 and get entire thing done by February 15, 2026.

The entire stretch of Chingrighata is proving to be a huge headache for commuters travelling to and from Salt Lake/Sector V/Newtown and East/South Kolkata. This is unpardonable.

As a boy who grew up in Kolkata and used the metro as a proud child, I am filled with utter frustration when an infrastructural marvel like that of the Metro gets unnecessarily delayed. It was pointed by Shri Ashwini Vaishnav ji during the discussion on rail budget that Kolkata is the first city to get the metro and Center is looking forward to building more and more stretches as the city expands but hurdles like that of Chingrighata is delaying things.

People of Kolkata should see how TMC is hell bent on making them suffer for their petty politics.

We will fight to the end.
