Support the CEE Bill!
'Natural climate solutions' are more than just the vegetation and soils storing the carbon - they also include the communities of animals that make them function as ecosystems
But which animals?
Great thread and important research from @mashant at #DICECON21

Seeing students being part of making university sustainability policy has been one of my professional highlights of 2021 so far. It makes me feel just a tiny bit more optimistic about the future @SacWorking
Once again: heat records are usually broken by tenths of a degree - not 4.6°C.
We're in a climate emergency that has never once been treated as an emergency. #FaceTheClimateEmergency
3. Investment in training ecologists to address local government skill gaps and provide green jobs
4. Legally binding targets for soil health
5. Establishment of a Natural History GSCE to ensure future generations protect biodiversity
Key report recommendations:
1. Legally binding targets for government policies to halt decline of nature, similar to emissions targets.
2. Alternatives to GDP for measuring economic success, eg 'inclusive wealth', which would measure the UK's produced, human & natural capital
1/ Today our student-led Sustainability Working Group, @SacWorking, held a people’s assembly for staff and students of @UniKentSAC to discuss reducing our emissions from flying

An utterly crushing day for Big Oil
1) Chevron investors demand emission cuts
2) Dutch court tells Shell to cut emissions by half
3) Exxon shareholders buck the company and elect directors demanding climate action.
Thanks to all who fight--you push long enough and dominoes tumble
With the massive Dutch ruling against Shell and so many activists being found not guilty or having their cases dismissed, it feels like there’s a lot of good news from the courts recently
I like it
We have 3 new sessions available! 2 Moth sessions and a Bumblebee walk 🐝

Moths are mainly nocturnal insects so we will set up traps the night
before so you can see them and learn to identify them. We will also
learn about their ecological importance and life cycles.
