Addressing The God of Elephants In The Room:

God of War will continue with Kratos. The next Official Mainline God of War game will have Kratos as the main character.

This game, that has not yet been announced, is a spin off. It will not be called God of War. The title of the game will reflect the fact that it's a spin-off.

Similarly, if Atreaus is the solo main character of a game it will also be a spin-off.

They are not replacing Kratos. The next Mainline God of War game is in development. There are multiple teams at Santa Monica working on more than one game at a time, not including the Greek Trilogy Remakes.

This upcoming game with Faye will play similarly to Bayonetta. Many questions concerning how much she knew and her overall plans leading into the next Mainline God of War Game will be explained in this spin off. It will provide context to the past and connect to the future.

I usually do not comment on details of yet to be announced games but I provide hints and allusions to unannounced games that are specific enough so that when you look back at the hints it proves that my sources are accurate.

We have to do it like this because when we/analysts are provided information it is given in confidence that it won't leak. I am not an anonymous leaker and I am not an official journalist. Journalists have additional protections when they leak things. Leakers are either anonymous or journalists and that's how they are protected from lawsuits. If anonymous leakers are caught, they risk losing their sources, being fired, and/or lawsuits. I work full time for the government in financial analysis & security consulting but for over a decade I have also been working, part time, as a videogame industry analyst, as a side gig career, because this is the hobby that I love, the industry I know the most about, and the one I enjoy doing research on.

When it comes to the videogame industry, information that is given to me & other analysts is almost always given under the promise that it will not be leaked but we can use it to build models & have an accurate understanding of financial data/projections to provide to potential clients, investors, & executives as well as to explain misunderstandings & correct misinformation to the general consumer public. I am only explaining the details of this yet to be announced game because the cat is out of the bag and people are running with narratives and misinformation that has become too large to ignore.

I understand that there is a lot of political discourse on the concern of how certain things have been handled in the videogame industry. I recommend that people remember that if it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck and acts like a duck it's probably a duck BUT not everything that sounds like a duck is actually a duck. Ghost of Yotei didn't deserve the type of criticism it got where a game like Dragon Age Veilguard did and if you'd like my explanation as to why you can read my post here:

For this game, all I ask is that you trust Cory Barlog and his team. If there are criticisms to be had make them when the game comes out or at least when it's officially shown to the public. Yes, some game ideas are just bad in premise and should be called out before they are shown to the public but let's be reasonable on this one, the premise of a spin-off game focusing on Faye is not such a bad idea.

When it comes to politics, it's important to remember Sony/PlayStation is a company that flows with the direction of swinging of the pendulum and this is true of almost all companies but it will always try to remain legal and respectful to all people on both sides of the political spectrum. It doesn't tolerate the celebration of political violence. Companies like Sony/PlayStation make products/games that are meant to be enjoyed by people on both sides of the political spectrum but not every game will speak to you and that's okay.

When it comes to PlayStation, I trust Nishino.
