No, your God is not universal, you can clearly see how non-universal he is in the OT. He only speaks of his people and the civilizations around his people because that is ALL the writers knew to be around them at the time of writing their holy book. Your God, is just another storm God, but of the Middle East.
Youβre trying to escape the point by slicing Israelites into tribal categories.
Jesus being from Judah does not make Christianity somehow non-Jewish in origin, and modern Jews are not simply βLevites who worship a different god.β That is not how Jewish identity or the history of Israelite religion works.
Christianity still takes the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and Israel as its God. Jesus is presented as the Jewish Messiah. The apostles are Jewish. The scriptures Christianity inherits are Jewish scriptures.
But my larger point is this:
Why should tht one Middle Eastern deity be elevated above every other god and every other religious tradition on Earth?
What makes the God of Israel uniquely entitled to declare Athena, Zeus, Apollo, Isis, Odin, and the rest false?
If the answer is βbecause our scripture says so,β then that is not an argument outside their own tradition.
I am not denying their God exists, but denying his exclusive claim to the throne.
@Bread_Gator@ItsTheJuden Lol you can't handle being roped in with the Muslims π€£ this is great. I'm going to help push you God of the Middle East OUT of the West.
@NatNewsNetwork We know that Zeus isn't Middle Eastern...but YOUR God is. Your God is the literal Middle Eastern Jewish God. You worship that very same God through a man...
They can dress Him in Greek philosophy, formulate Him through councils, and build cathedrals to Him in Europe, but none of that changes where the tradition begins.
The God they worship is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of ancient Israel, arising from the religious world of the ancient Levant.
Their Messiah was Jewish. Their apostles were Jewish. Their Old Testament is inherited from Jewish scripture. Christianity universalized that tradition, but it did not give it a European origin.
They worship the Middle Eastern Jewish God of Israel through Christian theology, yet are too blind to see it.
@ceanndach@H1storyMedia Lol, you cannot squirm your way out of worshiping the SAME Middle Eastern Jewish God as the Muslims and the Jews. Your religion literally branches from Judaism, yet youre in denial because you can't handle the truth of worshiping a God of sand from Judea
@ceanndach@H1storyMedia Sorry, who is the one that worships the Jewish God, me or you? If you are any of the Abrahamic branches, that would be YOU for the Christian is a Jew 2.0 and the Muslim is a Jew 3.0.
One of my favorite passages in science fiction, and one that reminds me of how the ancient world understood divinity.
"There exists no separation between gods and men; one blends softly casual into the other."
β Proverbs of Muad'Dib, Frank Herbert, Dune Messiah
π€
The distance between the mortal and the divine was not always so absolute. ποΈ
Greek religion developed in the Aegean world from Indo-European inheritance mixed with Mycenaean, Minoan, Anatolian, and Near Eastern influences. That is cultural exchange, not proof that Zeus and Athena are βTurkish gods.β
Influence is NOT origin. YOUR God originates from the Middle East. Your religion may have been restructured in the West, but your God will ALWAYS be of the Middle East and of Middle Eastern ideology.
