@sams_burner341#sp21 not to mention they are also frequent victims of abuse and violence. It should certainly be a right to have access to shelter - it is responsible for safety/survival.
@sams_burner341#sp21 yeah I think that violence is so engrained in human nature/evolution that it cannot be removed. We've been fighting for as long as we've been a species.
#SP21 He only discharged his gun once he was in imminent danger. His gun was grabbed and the strap was pulled to the point that the gun was about to come off. He was on the ground after attempting to run. I don't think this is an instance of white privilege either.
#SP21 I personally agree with most aspects regarding the ruling of the Rittenhouse case. He legally did nothing wrong. Curious to hear what arguments people have against it though.
@MazzRugar #SP21 I mean what good does that term do then? In that case, every American making minimum wage is "privileged" because they're in the top 1% of wealth globally.
I disagree with the modern usage of "privilege".
* Someone who is treated normally shouldn't be considered privileged.
* We should focus on disadvantaged groups and highlight their hardships rather than putting blame on people who are treated normally.
#sp21
* As has been seen, labelling groups as privileged can cause division.
* Division is ultimately harmful to progress.
* Therefore we should reformat our usage of "privilege".
#sp21
Like a hardcore white Republican who is labelled as "privileged" is not going to suddenly change their views because of that label (making sone assumptions here). In fact, it might further push them away from the ideas of tolerance and structural racism.

@JoshuaJH532 @gubazyy@Kjajajahah@lilyodaspok@THISIS4ACLASS1#sp21 yeah I'd say that we can't use intoxication as an excuse -- people who drink and drive or commit crimes while inebriated are still responsible for their actions in the legal system. Our society holds intoxicated people who commit crimes responsible.
@lilyodaspok@THISIS4ACLASS1@Kjajajahah#sp21 there was also another video of him fighting a member of the crowd and encouraging the mob to attack an individual. This was because the individual tried to take Travis Scott's shoe while he was crowd surfing. Not a proportional punishment I'd say.
@lilyodaspok@THISIS4ACLASS1@Kjajajahah#sp21 that's true, not all responsibily may be on Mr. Scott himself. There were some videos of him behaving badly towards crows. He encouraged someone to drop from a ledge and they broke their legs as a resultHow much of it really is his fault?
@Juliabdietz@SP21CAJames#sp21 is there anything we can do to remedy gerrymandering? How should we split up voting divisions? Maybe we can even get rid of these divisions all together?
@noah_teijeira #sp21 I don't think we should mandate these things. The argument for a mandatory mask mandate (which I don't necessarily agree with) is to protect other lives outside of your own. The argument for anti smoking, etc.. would only be to protect the individual.
#sp21 any thoughts on the Kyle Rittenhouse case? It seems like the argument that he acted in self defense has the upper hand atm. Not sure if this is due to a strong legitamite defense or a poor prosecuting lawyer... Or both?
@Juliabdietz @MazzRugar @sams_burner341#sp21 yeah the "echo chambers" of docial media groups that reinforce a certain viewpoint while criticising and "disliking" opposing viewpoints is all too prevalent now. I think humanity has to adapt to this rapidly advancing technology because it's not going away anytime soon.
