Several of us in QA were still reproing the Seraphs shield and DSC elevator crashes on different consoles/framerates late into Weds night, with a goal of verifying the fix on our dev kits Thursday. Little did we know we wouldn’t get to verify it as we were all swept up in the layoffs. 🥺
It was an honor/bittersweet to close out D2 as MoT QA lead of the Immortal title triumphs and vendors.
Our MATT (most amazing test team) naturally ran thru almost 180 triumphs and all MoT vendor items/the character rendezvous/the cinematics triggering/the grass changing - one even tried to speed run it - you know who you are 😀
I wouldn’t trade them for the world and I’m so damn proud of us. We really wanted you all to feel the passion we put into making the triumph journey feel bug free and rewarding.
Hope that came thru.
If you played these activities thru D2 and liked them/did not hit TOO many bugs, we are glad 😌
And I say WE because it is always a team effort:
- Renegades golden path
- Edge of Fate Invitation intro mission and abilities (MB/relocator/translator)
- Final Shape lost sectors/secrets/combo testing of Dual Destiny exotic class items
- Lightfall full campaign and post game run thrus
- S19 Seraphs Shield exotic mission
- S18 Ketchrash 6 man activity
I guess I can rest now for a bit knowing the end of this journey is here and a new path awaits so many of us.
Thanks to all of you at bungie who worked with me in any way.
And thanks as always to the players - you made this game really feel alive.
Once a guardian, always a guardian ❤️❤️❤️
I got laid off from Bungie yesterday :(
It was a wonderful 3 and half years and I'm proud of the animation work I got to create on Marathon. No regrets, I got some good memories there. Wonderful people to work with. It's off to a new adventure somewhere now, wherever that may be
I was not impacted by this, but so many of my amazing & talented friends across the studio were.
Im at a loss for words, feeling a lot of survivors guilt, but I will continue to do my best in my work & for the community.
Taking a break from socials though. Cheers.
It was a huge honor and privilege to spend nearly 12 years helping bring Raids and Dungeons to life. It means so much to me how many of you enjoyed the content, and built lasting bonds with people because of it.
My role as Senior Music Designer at Bungie has been impacted. The last 5 years at Bungie have truly been the greatest years and I wouldn't trade them for anything!
I'll be looking for my next position so please reach out if you are in need of any music work for video games!
Would have been 14 years at Bungie working on Destiny. Like MANY of us, I'm also affected by today's lay offs.
Thank you everyone I've had the privilege of working with <3 You are incredibly talented & the best of peoples.
Thank you Destiny community for your love & support <3
The very first thing I made for Destiny 2 was this set of sea sponges.
I've since worked on things I'm far more proud of, but this one is special to me.
After nearly 4 years at Bungie, my role has been eliminated as of today.
It has truly been a pleasure to have worked on Marathon and Destiny with such talented individuals for so long. Testing at Bungie really was different, but I'm going to miss my team the most 💙💚
I sincerely thought Bungie was going to be my forever home in this industry.
Alas, I'm back on the job market. I'm immensely proud of the work I got to do on Destiny, and the people I got to build an experience of a lifetime with.
I worked on other RaD, season, and expac content, but my primary work was on RaD as technical design owner of:
Pantheon 1 and 2
The Desert Perpetual Normal and Epic
Vesper's Host
Salvation's Edge
Ghosts of the Deep
Spire of the Watcher
Kingsfall Reprise
I had a pretty good run.
The entire team I used to work with, the leads who managed me, the people who hired me, all just gone.
these people were veterans from the halo days. generational talent just gone.
:/
Basically the whole D2 Sandbox team is gone, myself included.
The good news is if you liked the way Destiny felt to shoot and play, there’s going to be a lot of great designers in the market looking to help other games step it up.
